I can’t believe it. One of the victims from my group called the SFPD and they told him there was nothing they could do and to fuck off, essentially

im sure just like this year he will cut every department but SFPD

This deficit is not helped by prop M with tax breaks for corporations who have only gotten more from trump

we need congestion pricing, wealth and payroll taxes to fill these gaps in our programs while we defund the police

This isn’t a gift it’s Bloomberg buying control of the Mayor’s office much as Larson has effectively purchased SFPD.

We should tax these billionaires instead of letting them use their wealth to buy our city government.

We need government by/for the people to replace government by/for billionaires.

I’m generally a fan of Mission Local, so it’s disappointing when even they echo copaganda like “The SFPD staffing crisis is real and costs the city a fortune in overtime.”

A staff shortage is SFPD’s opinion, and the linked article itself attributes the overtime cost to “potential abuse.”

there's a thread on /r/sf about how the sfpd won't do anything at all to help if you report your bike stolen and there's a comment thread in there about how the sf bike coalition doesn't recommend reporting bike theft to the police because they kill people and everyone is like OH WELL THAT'S RIDICUL

“It can get crazy over there,”  said Stephen earlier this week as he looked across to the east side of Mission Street.

I lived in SF during his tenure as mayor. He was a wretched neoliberal who capitulated to SFPD and cheerfully cleaned out homeless encampments. He fucking sucks.

Glad to see the interim S.F. police chief acknowledge how “incredible” it is for SFPD to be “short staffed” yet crime drops dramatically. Almost as if there’s more to crime prevention than larger PD budgets sfstandard.com/2025/12/03/s...

Also the article is about a nightmarish surveillance dragnet the SFPD is rolling out in partnership with Flock. While many cities nationwide like Austin and Spokane are canceling their contracts with Flock after seeing data unaccountably shared with ICE, "progressive sanctuary city" SF doubles down.

Derrick Lew is San Francisco's new police chief.

As a highly regarded SFPD veteran, the department’s highest-ranked Asian American, & the head of drug enforcement here, Lew was long seen as the odds-on favorite to ascend to the top post.

The sequel is sort of a mess, but Bob Falfa becoming a SFPD cop is such a natural thing.

The background info for my second cyberpunk short story. The main duo are hired to prove a crime hidden in song lyrics are the hallucinations of an AI ghostwriter.

The bit with the word was based on the old posts that deduced when the song "It Was a Good Day" by Ice Cube happened.

We learned yesterday that a man riding on a bike was struck and killed late on Sunday, November 16, by a person driving a car, at Alemany and Naglee in the Outer Mission. The person driving the car fled the scene, but a suspect has been apprehended by SFPD.

A high-speed crash sent a pickup into the side of a building in San Francisco’s Marina District on Tuesday morning, officials said.

The SFPD is urging anyone with information on the crash to call 415-575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 with the keyword SFPD.

SF Policing & Surveillance
SFPD has allowed GA & TX to search the city’s license plate data.
3 Sups. are seeking to weaken the 2019 Anti-Surveillance Law.
Call or email the Mayor & your Supr & let them know you want them to enforce the law, not let SFPD spy on you with impunity. buff.ly/SjOrOju

fyi I'm pretty sure they aren't trans identifying anymore and also they weren't the first trans cop at the SFPD-maybe the first out one? (ACAB). look forward/dreading the pull quotes for this book.

A Waymo robot apparently disobeyed SFPD, forcing PD to block the failed robot while everyone went around:

California at Van Ness, San Franciso

Waymo does not have to report these incidents to any regulator.

California St Cable Car terminus is shown briefly in this video.

Bonfires are ILLEGAL on Ocean Beach except in fire pits across from Beach Chalet and the pits closed for the season on Nov 1. Why did authorities allow it? Those of us who live here warned about increasing chaos triggered by Great Highway closure and near total absence of SFPD patrol.

Why wasn't ICE arrested for excessive force? The woman was not a threat and the agent had no reason to believe she was a threat.

Santa Ana police need to step up. SFPD has stated they are on board for arresting agents that do so.
ICE agent points gun at woman who recorded him, Fullerton police say

A lone SFPD officer in the one of the oldest, most beat up cruisers I have ever seen still in service arrived and asked for a "police liaison." He then asked said representative if the march would be on the sidewalk, street, and if they would be going to the ICE office on Sansome Street.
