#throughput
Any evidence strategy giving inordinate weight to simplistic contextless measures of "developer throughput" in the AI era is fundamentally unserious

So much to see, so much to learn throughput our state!❤️

If population is treated as a moral accusation, it can be dismissed.

If it’s treated as a biophysical load (energy, water, land, throughput) it cannot.

Ecology operates in the second register.

Because the issue of population change is so widely misunderstood, here's a short thread which seeks to lay it out simply.
It explains why there is almost nothing anyone can do to change the global population trajectory, both as numbers rise, then as they fall.

Nemotron 3

A new hybrid mamba2/attention LLM from NVIDIA that beats Qwen3-30B-A3B (same size & shape)

Notes:
* 1M context, with incredible recall past 256K
* New open datasets
* 10 open source RL environments

Overall this is a huge win for neolabs

we’re reaching a point in nightlife where most parties are designed for algorithms instead of humans. everything from the dj to the lighting is optimized for max algorithmic capture; human beings are reduced to a lubricant to maximize viral throughput.

we need real community spaces more than ever.

Shutting down an intersection after a person is killed there is the bare minimum that @seattledot.bsky.social should do.

But no, we must all risk our bodies and mental health at the Alter of Throughput.

Good on these folks for doing SDOT’s job for them.

The modern Internet is completely unusable at 2Mbps down/344Kbps up (my current 5G Ultra wide band throughput). Imagine people still stuck on dial up these days.

I was just reading about these! How’s the dry time? With five kids, laundry throughput is constantly a concern.

(we should want to keep blue slips, blue-state federal courts handle way more aggregate throughput than red-state federal courts)

One more dedicated left-turn and right-turn lane will fix it, bro, I promise. All we need is just a couple more lanes and longer cycles to increase throughput.

New research group leader @matthiasmuhar.bsky.social joins @mpi-cbg.de! 🥳 With his group "Functional genomics of proteome remodeling,” Matthias wants to pursue high-throughput genetic studies to understand how protein turnover is regulated. Welcome, Matthias! www.mpi-cbg.de/news-outreac...

Maybe also realistic supply consumption and throughput.

Really they should just make the "Factorio but it's managing a 20th Century Battlefront" game the people have been crying out for.

It needs throughput; hollowed users are sunk cost. Hollowing sensemaking, attention, legitimacy, whatever, only matters if it has to close the loop.

Platforms don’t. They churn, rebrand, pivot, or otherwise offload blame onto polarization or misinformation.

Autocannibalism is rational at scale.

Put a governor in an automobile that prevents you from driving over 25 on surface roads and we would save about 18,000 lives a year, have smoother and safer street traffic, and lose almost no time to driving slower since almost 70% of urban roads have a throughput smaller than 25 mph anyway.

Inpatient pharm pearl:

Infusion durations for IV iron & bisphosphonates were designed to be *short* to improve patient throughput at *outpatient* infusion centers

For inpatients, SLOWING DOWN the infusion reduces infusion reactions/toxicity with *same* efficacy (these drugs work slowly) #EMIMCC

This thing doesn't scale up ever, this *feeling* doesn't scale up. It's the difference between "general (the guy on the field in silk and cloth of gold; makes me feel nice)" and "general (bread throughput of 20,000 lbs a day; knows what spreadsheets are)"

I find it conspicuous that Caltrans has not studied mainline metering lights for the 3-to-2-lane reduction at the RSR toll plaza, as at the Bay Bridge. The smoothed traffic flow would result in higher throughput, reduced merger collisions, and much faster transit speeds and emergency response.

I am very proud to share the core project of my post-doc in this beautiful paper. With colleagues at the Weizmann, we built biochips to interrogate antigen-antibody interactions at high-throughput and quantitatively. Check it out at @natnano.nature.com

US roads should be engineered more for safety and less for speed & throughput, but that's a complex issue w long timeline.

Another advantage to speed gov is it would make it easier to have lower speeds at night than day to compensate for reduced visibility. That alone could save 10-15k US lives/yr.

I'm trying to do more cute little character interactions like this, I want to draw little comics and stuff even though I don't have any throughput narrative or anything. This is Lady and Tim considering how they may fit in with the common folk.
