fucking moron. those were nuclear 'powered' missiles. they weren't nuclear warheads. fucking traitor is a fucking moron.
Q: What prompted you to announce you're resuming nuclear testing right before the meeting with Xi?
TRUMP: They seem to all be nuclear testing. We have more nuclear weapons than anybody. We don't do testing. We halted it many years ago, but w/ others doing testing I think it's appropriate we do also

I was just discussing this. In the 80s, I always had a low level fear of a nuclear war happening. Now, I just don't. I doubt Trump or his cronies could profit from one, and I just assume Putin sold off all the warheads years ago and let the ICBMs rot in the silos.

If it was equal to "other countries" it would be testing a nuclear propulsion system for missiles as Russia did. Not nuclear warheads.
But Trump and the GOP want to punish the planet for planning on continuing after he's gone.
We don't have new nukes to test.

He’s going to invoke the Insurrection Act anyway. Start fighting back, and forming guerrilla groups. Take it to them before they can deploy the missiles and warheads ICE has acquired. They laugh at peaceful protest.

2/3 The People’s Republic probably has something like 600 warheads, meaning that it would have to produce almost 1,000 bombs a year to reach parity with the U.S. or Russia by the end of the decade. (Possible? Maybe, but Beijing has only added about 100 warheads in the past two years.)

The thing is though we literally built a supercomputer SPECIFICALLY for the purpose of running simulations and calculations pertaining to our nuclear arsenal to ensure we understand how aging warheads will perform and how to ensure they will *without* needing to set them off. That's it's whole job.

The only thing 'new' is that it's remote or autonomous.
We already have submersibles with nuclear reactors, capable of long range, carrying nuclear warheads in them.
They're called submarines.
The Russians simply put a computer into a small sub.
That's going to end well.

There was no indication the U.S. would start detonating warheads, but Trump offered few details about what seemed to be a significant shift in U.S. policy.

Not coincidentally, today is the National Day of Remembrance for Nuclear Weapons Workers, established by Congress in 2009 to honor those who designed, built, tested, and maintained our nuclear stockpile, and also mined, hauled, milled, and enriched uranium for making nuclear bombs and warheads.

You can tell the AI Doomers aren’t serious about existential risk because they care so much more about sci fi fanfic than about the very concrete and existent possibility of a thermonuclear exchange of ~2000 100-500 kiloton warheads.

My father was a nuclear bomber pilot. I narrowly escaped death in utero when a nuclear catastrophe involving warheads on a parked B-52 that caught on fire occurred just before my birth - blocks from our base home. There are still 12,000 nuclear warheads on earth.
That number is unacceptable, but it represents a more than 80% reduction from the Cold War. Trump’s announcement threatens to reverse this progress.
