I wrote about No Kings Day in Los Angeles. What bothers me most about reflecting on police response to protests in LA is that the brutality begins to feel...expected. Like, "Oh, that's just LAPD." Frankly that's bullshit. Pretty tired of watching my neighbors get their shit kicked in by the cops.

We gave them flowers; they sent in the horses.

The U.S. military spends about $7.5 billion total on paychecks for service members every two weeks.

the city could make up a huge part of its budget gap if they just collected on TWO of the who knows how many outstanding big debts its owed -- the 87 million from S&WB and 35 million from Uber. And the fact that they don't even know how many entities owe over $500,000 is mind boggling
