Hi! It’s wild and emblematic of his essentially boring politics. Do you collect text messages as well as mailers? Just got one from the Mayor and I replied I’d never vote for anyone who brandished a gun!

They don’t even pretend to care. This is the only story. You can’t open the government if the House refuses to show up.

The president doesn’t have a constitutional right to impose a tariff because he doesn’t like a foreign country’s TV ad. I know this doesn’t matter to the dictator in the White House, but I thought I’d point it out in case we ever start following the Constitution again.

Also, he is imposing a tax without our consent (which was enough for our forefathers to start a revolution) because an ad made him mad. It's mad king stuff.

Kudos to the State of Massachusetts for putting this message on the SNAP page. Put the blame where it belongs!

Never in my life did I think I would see this from a mayor to police: “We would like the Aurora Police Department to play a historic role in defending the United States of America, and our city against fascism. We have a unique opportunity to do something different….”
I haven't seen people here mention this letter from the mayor of Illinois' 2nd-largest city (Aurora, 40+% Latino)

to the Aurora Police

following egregious attacks by immigration in Aurora and related protests

So here it is!

GOP state senators in North Carolina have answered Trump's plea to gerrymander congressional maps to maintain their U.S. House majority in 2026. The redistricting—if adopted, as expected, by the state House—would oust one of the state’s three Black members of Congress. trib.al/zcXLngd

Dr. Paul Farmer proved that high-quality care is possible anywhere, and helped inspire PEPFAR and The Global Fund.

Today, that legacy is at risk as billions in approved U.S. funds remain withheld.

Join us in protecting the progress he helped build.

it's important to remember the people doing this aren't "just following orders," they signed up to do this, they're excited to do it, it's what they want to be doing, and each one of them is personally culpable for the entirety of ICE's conduct
In video provided exclusively to MSNBC's The Weekend: Primetime, immigration agents are seen attempting to pull a man out a window of a Chicago home. Agents also jumped a fence into the locked backyard and manhandled people doing work. Hear from the homeowner tonight on The Weekend: Primetime.

As a member of the working class, I often unwind from a long day of hobby farming for my mom’s restaurant by leaning back in the $19,395 chair that my famous architect grandfather designed for Knoll™.

When Jacobin and the Pod Save bros are aligned on defending nazi tattoos, we’ve got a problem and it’s not going to be solved by you coming into my mentions and telling me I’m not seeing what I’m definitely seeing—

which is white people left, right, and center coming together to defend Nazi tattoos

The fact that the focus is on whether or not it he can LEARN

And not

“With what we know is it safe for this person to have access to power for marginalized people. Or to be the deciding factor in policy … and be HONEST about it “

Is all they need to hear to dig in

I don't want to talk about his goddamned tattoos anymore. I want to talk about how he wanted to be part of the armies that tried to exterminate Indigenous people in North America, and just generally kill a lot of brown people all over the world. That's a lot of people made to feel unsafe.

Fun random history fact!

During WW2, three women joined the Dutch antifa partisan resistance against the nazi occupation.

They would seduce high-ranking nazi officers at bars, lure them into the woods, extract any useful intel, & then shoot them.

This has been a fun random history fact!

These guys get $50k signing bonuses.

Stephen Miller is telling them they have immunity and encouraging them to create chaos.

They get almost no training, many couldn’t pass an open book exam & they’re allowed to hide their faces.

They’re swinging assault rifles around in public.

Bingo. Even if I bought his "redemption arc" story, that doesn't mean the guy gets a U.S. Senate seat as a reward.

What actual evidence of doing the work to redeem his views can he point to BEFORE deciding to run for U.S. Senate? 1/
Another thing—I am all for forgiveness & redemption, I think it is hugely important to society & a high expression of humanity. Platner deserves an opportunity for redemption as an individual. Redemption (if earned) does not = deserving a US Senate nomination FFS! Like how is this complicated?
