the weather is downright miserable right now, if they pull ten people for a naked bike ride in these conditions it will still be an awe-inspiring tribute to this town's fierce fighting spirit

Organizers of the Emergency World Naked Bike Ride plan to hold the protest despite a steady rain forecast, saying:

“It's going to be very very wet. Our numbers will be lower but a slight bit of discomfort for us is nothing.

World Naked Bike Ride organizers and other local groups are getting on bikes in the buff to protest the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in South Portland. The demonstration is planned for Sunday Oct 12 at 2:30 pm; now we know the starting spot is Oregon Convention Center Plaza.

They’ve been claiming Portland has burned down (along with other cities) since 2020, before AI videos were really a thing. They’re just lying.

The only good thing about that is it doesn’t use as much water.

a lot of these stories assume The Free Press is a business success. but is it? they generate a ton of subscription revenue but they spend so much that they needed to raise $15M last year. we can't see the financials, but there's a good chance that the operation is a money pit.

The amount of money we are giving to Argentina amounts to $450 per resident of that country. But we're not even giving it to people there who need it, we're giving it to prop up Elon's pal, the corrupt President of that country, who'll then shovel some of it into the pockets of Trump's friends here.

There's a local right wing show on KSLM in Salem, OR called Noncompliant America. KSLM broadcasts Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Charlie Kirk's show, etc. This week's show featured this "small gov't" guy saying "bring all of the troops home," right after saying "send the troops to here to Oregon!"

Makes you wonder. And so we don't want wars. We want to pull out of everything.
I think all the troops should come home to the United States, maybe leave a couple behind elsewhere. But we don't need to be involved fighting for other countries like Ukraine either. We don't need to be defending them.
We don't need to be there. I say we pull out completely, and let's get out of these wars, and let's save some money. Let's be fiscally responsible.
Let's pay for the taxes that are supposed to be used on the American people, and stop giving it to all these NGOs that are thwarting and undermining Western civilization all over the world. Let's start focusing on the people, not other countries. That's what we need to do.

Well, it really is a war zone in the sense that you look at the lawfare that's happening between the judges and the governor that's vowing to fight Trump in every way. And he's not violating his constitutional right. He's protecting federal buildings.
He's not sending in the National Guard to take over the city, which I personally believe he should. And it may or may not happen because Portland is an Antifa stronghold. There's a guy, there's a video I posted on my ex earlier this week.

But even pointing this out merely feeds back into the grievance and victimization machine that surrounds young men and tells them that they’ve been unfairly maligned. “FemiNAZI tells young men that their FEELINGS are TOXIC.”

Probably the actual advice that most young men need is that no one finds self pity appealing.

thiel, man, what the fuck are you talking about

He describes the plot of Watchmen, a 1986 graphic novel involving superheroes grappling with moral questions about humanity against the backdrop of impending nuclear war:

The antihero Ozymandias, the antichrist-type figure, is sort of an early-modern person. He believes this will be a timeless and eternal solution – eternal world peace. Moore is sort of a late-modern. In early modernity, you have ideal solutions, ‘perfect’ solutions to calculus. In late modernity, things are sort of probabilistic. And at some point, he asks Dr Manhattan whether the world government is going to last. And he says that ‘nothing lasts forever.’ So you embrace the antichrist and it still doesn’t work.

Thiel later finds biblical meaning in the manga One Piece, discussing how he believes it represents a future where an antichrist-like one-world government has repressed science. He believes that the hero, Monkey D Luffy, represents a Christlike figure.

In One Piece, you are set in a fantasy world, again sort of an alternate earth, but it’s 800 years into the reign of this one-world state. Which, as the story unfolds, gradually gets darker and darker. You sort of realize, in my interpretation, who runs the world and it’s something like the antichrist. There’s Luffy, a pirate who wears a red straw hat, sort of like Christ’s crown of thorns. And then towards the end of the story, transforms into a figure who resembles Christ in Revelation.

Thiel, along with a researcher and writer at Thiel Capital, explored these ideas at greater length in an essay for the religious journal First Things earlier this month.

So I’m in Portland, and we knew this was coming. But what’s breathtaking is the disparity between what’s actually happening on the ground vs the … “lies” isn’t a big enough word. Saw this on the actual WH web page and it just floored me. I guess all we can do is continue to not take the bait.

Well golly it sounds like you should let long-standing precedents stand until you rule on the merits, then. That is not what you’re doing!
