I’ve also heard from multiple acting agents that private equity buyouts make their job unpleasant. The agency bloats into a blob of sports, digital, presenting, & talent to maximise ROI for the investors. Clear mission gets lost. New bosses don’t know anything about acting, just line go up

acting industry friends know if they buy me a couple drinks I’ll start ranting about how many acting agencies are up to their eyeballs in private equity and won’t survive the coming recession. If they bet the farm on AI too it’d be another good reason to steer clear, IMO

Y’know modern method acting does recommend seeking therapy if it gets too much.

It does feel like the Ares Lead looked up Stanislavski, Cojar, Irving et al on Wikipedia and didn’t actually read them?

"I'm an asshole because these old dead guys say it's okay" is certainly a take.

I’m just humbly suggesting that, should the publishing industry want to tackle the crisis in reading for pleasure rates, and we have research suggesting that there’s no crisis in reading for pleasure rates amongst children who read comics, that there’s maybe a relatively simple solution right here.

Realised I'd shared this with friends over the weekend, but not you.

Yes, it's a lovely old video on modelling, but crucially about 12 minutes in there's the most unhinged walk through of a railway diorama where there's vandals, death, lambs to slaughter, a bit more death and Druid stones.

Hear Me Out - Judge Dredd The Musical. Base in on John Wagner's graphic novel America; that story already has musical elements, some excellent characters who aren't Dredd (including America herself) and a hell of an ending. (And a strong start.)
