Happening now: at Kedzie and 40th, where Border Patrol agents just opened fire on rapid response this afternoon. A woman CFD says they found after the incident is reported in fair condition.

A growing number of outraged neighbors have gathered across from ICE/CBP agents who have closed Kedzie.

Finally made it to an Axe-Man. What a menagerie of odd things and good vibes
Retail shelf with a cardboard box of dog leash tie-out stakes labeled “ABANDON YOUR DOG ANYWHERE… $4.95” Plastic bin full of white pads labeled “Who touched these? 2”x4” felt pads” Cardboard box of unknown plastic objects labeled “HOORAY! It’s… these… things. 45¢” A box formerly used to hold Holy Bibles and labeled accordingly, currently full of bicycle air horns

Cuomo’s base is the same as Mayor Frey’s. They prioritize corporations over working people.

Frey’s campaign isn’t about abundance. It’s about vetoing a historic city budget for workers, disinvested communities, immigrants + BIPOC residents, and unhoused residents.

Minnesota Appellate Court Watch: a major tenants' rights decision came down today. In a *precedential* opinion, the Court of Appeals ruled that (1) landlords may not lock tenants out even in cases of damage to a property, and (2) courts may award replacement housing and consequential dmgs in an ETRA

DECISION
A determination that a residential apartment is temporarily uninhabitable due to fire
damage and must not be occupied until repairs are complete does not extinguish a tenant’s
present possessory right to the apartment under a written lease and, consequently, a
landlord’s installation of a padlock on a residential tenant’s apartment door in response to
such a determination without judicial process is an unlawful lockout under Minn. Stat.
§ 504B.375. Alternative housing costs and consequential damages are remedies that a
district court may, in its discretion, award to a prevailing tenant in an emergency tenant
remedies action, Minn. Stat. § 504B.381, even when the fire that caused the tenant’s
apartment to become uninhabitable was not caused by the landlord.
Reversed and remanded.

I cannot emphasize enough how brave this small group of protesters was today.

ICE showed up at Chicago’s immigration court with more agents, vehicles, and gear than they’ve ever brought in the past—spoiling for a fight.

Happening now: a small group of protesters are once again blocking ICE agents' vans outside immigration court in Chicago.

Masked agents with handcuffs are threatening activists with arrest and intimidating photographers.

Situation is tense, we'll update as we can.

The armed, yellow-vested "peacekeepers" at the Utah 50501 protest in Salt Lake City opened fire into a crowd, hitting two people:

A Sāmoan fashion designer with two young kids, who died.

A second-generation Venezuelan immigrant and antiracist protester who was legally carrying. Cops charged HIM.

This is continued journalistic malpractice from the @startribune.com normalizing a violent white male suspect. He owned a private security company called Praetorian Guard, traveled overseas to preach against abortion and LGBTQ+ people, and attended a bible college that preaches "violent prayer."
Suspect showed few signs of political extremism before lawmaker shootings
Friends and associates say Vance Boelter, who was apprehended late Sunday and charged with murdering a state lawmaker and her husband, was mild-mannered and did not appear to be fixated on politics.

The discourse about how to protest right is a distraction from what the protests are actually about: SECURITY FORCES CAME IN THE NIGHT AND TOOK 2000 PEOPLE AWAY

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

The cost of “less lethal” weapons is written on the faces of so many journalists and citizens in Minneapolis from 2020. Lost eyes, TBIs.
atherton.bsky.social
Wrote this in the summer of 2020, definitely a good sign to be dusting it off now.

"Less lethal" weapons are tools of colonial occupation marketed to police, and tools of police marketed to colonial soldiers. Anti-civilian weapons more than "less-lethal" www.scientificamerican.com/article/what...

The U.S. government is ready to unleash our own military on civilians.

It is definitely time to be frightened about what is happening here.

If you want to show solidarity with Los Angeles, the best thing to do is organize protests against ICE tonight/tomorrow in your own cities.

Search the web for ICE rapid response networks in your own city / state and sign up. Help your neighbors.

The Pencil Sharpening today caused unplanned, chaotic traffic stoppage around half the lake and adjacent cross streets (26th - 24th). No marshals. Cars abandoned in the driving lane.

Thinking about Wince Way and how many of the same people condemned us standing in the streets to protest a murder.
