We had Angela Davis speak at my university a couple of years back. One of the many insightful things she said - protest in the way that aligns with your passion. If that’s poetry do poetry or music etc. Because then you will be able to sustain it. If naked bike rides are your passion, 100% do that.

Someone in my mentions is upset because these people haven’t suffered the worst at ICE’s hands and therefore they shouldn’t be praised for being out on the streets?

Yeah, no. To push back on these people we need everyone — especially those with relative privilege — to get up and get involved.

I think if I were a mecha pilot taking pinup photos for fun, I would also want to pose with scaled down versions of my mecha's weapons. That sounds really fun to me. Maybe do some forced perspective with the mecha and real gun in the background looking the same size as me. :)

Anyone who claims that Silicon Valley would be better with more humanities education has to grapple with the fact that Peter Thiel was a philosophy major.

Also nobody wants a helicopter to fall on them. Not you, not your neighbors.

This is such an astoundingly bad idea that I kinda think it’s a false flag or an op of some sort

Merits aside, it is insanely easy to be caught if you do this and the punishment for doing this is much more severe than you’d guess.

(@faineg.bsky.social often writes on stuff like this)

a cis womans husband cheats on her with a trans woman, so she divorces him. their prenup was pretty strict on infidelity, too, so she absolutely cleans him out

months after the dust settles, she runs into the trans woman at the grocery store. the trans womans eyes burn with anger,

My favorie thing about TLT's magic system is that we learn about it first from the persepective of someone who

1) can't do the magic
2) hates the magic

and when you finally do have a character narrating who knows how to do the magic she is very mentally about girls and won't explain shit

The Locked Tomb has one of my favorite magic systems of all time and like 80% of it comes down to two things:

1. Necromancy is the only magic

2. The spells are called "theorems."

I dropped off the manga a while back but when I did, not only had that not learned anything new about the other, but I'm genuinely not sure if Yor was even assassinating people anymore. Her cover job was an office lady got like 20x more development

I don't see the problem. James Caan looks very cozy
Scene from Misery, where James Caan's character is strapped to a bed, and Kathy Bates is leaning over him.

The scene of a bunch of children torn limb from limb is just the perfect cozy note to end the night on before bedtime

I am so fucking confused by some of those choices, particularly Let The Right One In. Like oh yeah so nice and comfy to settle in with a movie about child abuse

I have seen all but one of these movies and not only would I not describe any of them as "cozy" I would also struggle mightily to describe any commonality between them
rhagana.bsky.social
Absolutely wild that @commandersterling.bsky.social was ranting this week about how the word"cozy" has become pervasive in video games and I see this at my local library today
Poster at the library's video section advertising "cozy horror" movies; it's a collage of original posters for the films The Fog, Practical Magic, Misery, Werewolves Within, Let the Right One In, Hocus Pocus, Sleepy Hollow (Tim Burton version), Scare Me, and An American Werewolf in London.

Reminds me of when the Obamacare insurance markets first opened, the most people were like "wtf why do you want me to choose a thousand different options I don't understand I just want fucking healthcare," but a few liberals were thrilled they get to choose a thousand tiny options for the sake of it

Lol at describing America's system not even as "the best" like normal, but "the most extensive". Like yeah no other system lets you choose between seven different name brands of hip replacement with premium preorder DLC

Fun fact about the Salvation Army: they use a form of substance use treatment called work therapy. Oh, and by treatment, I mean they have people who have been convicted of drug charges work for their stores & warehouses in exchange for room, board, around a $1 a week, and minimal actual therapy.
