Campaigners have launched a petition calling for control of the Greenwich Foot Tunnel to be transferred from Greenwich Council to Transport for London.

The tunnel was originally run by London-wide government, but control was handed to Greenwich in the 1980s.

For years, this was part of a path through the land, but it's now an impenetrable tangle of gorse and young trees.

As the trees grow, the gorse and other vegetation will be shaded out, and I'll be able to pass again, but through *rainforest*.

Scrub is how natural forest ecosystems form.

Great campaign from the @escalatenow.bsky.social team who got TfL to fix the escalators at Cutty Sark.

Now pushing TfL to fix the lifts in Greenwich foot tunnel built by London County Council 113 years ago for dock workers to cross the river.

When TfL was set up they got road not foot tunnels. 🤦‍♀️

Lecornu will now form a new government strengthened by these two days of "last negotiations".

It's in no way people's fault if they come from a nation with a colonial, genocidal, history like Britain, Germany, or the US. They weren't alive and can't be held responsible for the past.

But the same does NOT apply to ignoring their nation's support for Israeli ethnic cleansing in Palestine NOW.

We brits really need to acknowledge and work through our history of colonial abuses. I believe it starts with education... I wasn't taught a single thing, until I married a Cork man and worked for the UN with intl. friends and learned more. And also we need more ecological regeneration, globally.
