Reintroduction now that we're all determined to move here: I'm a playwright & theatre critic. I'd love to find more theatre nerds here!

Big fan of Twin Peaks, Star Trek and film/TV in general.

Recently holidayed in Canada with a side quest to Bangor, reigniting my love of Stephen King.

I don’t think we’re talking enough about the fact that we successfully took back the frog. Like it has been a meme for the alt right for years now, and thanks to these Portland inflatable costumes, we’re taking it back

Twin Peaks Fire Walk With Me in a walk. it was shrugged off in '92 and it took at least 20 years (and Mulholland Dr didn't hurt none) for being a Lynch proponent to go from being a niche phenomenon to becoming a mainstream cinephile position

throwing this prompt from Twitter in here. what examples you got?
tweet by @Caol_MacCormaic that reads, uncs of film twitter: what are some movies that are canonical now but were basically unknown when we were coming up? like Come and See or Possession. inversely: what are some movies or filmmakers that seem to have fallen off? (Takashi Miike comes to mind)

On the one hand, this is cute.
On the other, writers should be able to talk about the political climate they are writing in without having to be cute.

New: The WGAE, which represents some parts of CBS News including its social team, sent a note to members today advising its members not to respond to Weiss’ request for an email by next week. The union also said it asked CBS for more information about Weiss’ request.

Exactly! If you're nostalgic for The Lost Boys, watch The Lost Boys.

Today is World Homeless Day, and after years reporting on this crisis, I'll just say: homelessness is neither inevitable nor intractable. It's the result of choices—political, economic, moral—that can be unmade.

And this: how we treat the unhoused is a bellwether for the violence we will tolerate.

Lord give us the Democrats that Republicans warn us about.

Thune: "If the Democrats had won the majority, they probably would've tried to nuke the filibuster. And then you'd have four new senators from Puerto Rico and DC, you'd have a packed Supreme Court, you'd have abortion on demand ... "

This Bari Weiss all staff email is so badly written. That second paragraph is embarrassing.

Genocidal war criminal nominates his weapons dealer for the Nobel Peace Prize and our Foreign Minister fawns over it.

Embarrassing.

Yes, that's another problem with the streaming era. Small seasons and long breaks between.
keithgow.bsky.social
So rough. I plowed through it but all those extra FX shots were pointless.

This continues to be proven correct.

This is the stupidest day in American history, a record that will be broken by every subsequent day in American history.

Yes, he's so articulate all the time. So smart about his process.

Sondheim admitting he used a rhyming dictionary really brings him down to earth.

Pinch… Paunch! Pension!

Sondheim’s 60 Minutes interview with Diane Sawyer is endlessly inspiring. And this exchange, about rhymes and reference books, is so delightful.

I know Time magazine totally fucking sucks, but it is amusing thinking about the sweat their editors are feeling right now. They could do the funniest (and totally justifiable) thing in the world and give it to Greta.

What are you seeing?
keithgow.bsky.social
It was suffering from Netflix bloat in season two - all close to an hour with about 30 minutes of story. There's something to be said for a tight 42-45 minutes. (As for the budget - ridiculous!)

If Swift was ever considered a great lyricist, she should now be taken out of contention forever for the lyrics to Wood.

Not to be a basic bitch, but Paul McCartney is still alive!

I also need to know: I am fairly middle-of-the-road on Taylor Swift but someone I know called her the Greatest Living Lyricist. She is not.

Who is yours? Either the greatest or your favorite?

Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

"Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it's highly likely because they're given Tylenol. None of this is positive..."
