Every single time in my entire life that I have ever stepped inside any business in Ranelagh, I got there on a bike. "Customers arriving by taxi" has such a weird and ungrounded grip on the minds of a certain kind of Irish business person

Micro-Giant saw this video and asked me what it was.

His instant reaction? "Can I join that party of praise?"

You see why Jesus told us to cultivate faith like a child's.

The Taoiseach recounts how he and Sir Keir Starmer lament over pints that they can't get anything done. I don't want to jump to conclusions but that could be, as they say, a skill issue.

And the planning result noted objection to the dramatic difference in height of the proposed buildings but blocked construction for substantive reasons, primarily the crappiness of the ground floor design & the way it would hinder pedestrianisation (a climate mitigation strategy!)

2/ There were no "apartments" blocked because of a tennis clubs' view. It was *student accommodation*. A complex tax fiddle that is not the same things as homes for families!

1/ Note who he was speaking with? A tech billionaire.

We are already on the same course that the USA & UK are on in terms of democratic decay and our leaders do not notice.

I just want to note two details that should frame your reading of this deeply alarming confession.

The Taoiseach admits that he has given up on climate mitigation. This is genuine nihilism. You know what's "socially polarising"? The soon-unstoppable erosion of the literal ground on which society is built. archive.ph/kCt0M

Ireland could build a new children's hospital every three years for the cost of the hospitality VAT reduction.

We could build a Galway sized luas system every year for the same cost

We'll invest less in the National Grid between now and 2030, than we will in €18 sandwiches in 2026

This new residential tower in Lyon is made from wood.

In many ways, this is quite an incredible building. Here's why:

It surely didn't break out of spéirgorm (Irish bluesky) but when the heavily backed candidate for president, Jim Gavin, abandoned his campaign last week, many Americans broke into Irish conversations assuming we were mocking the California governor, Gavin Whatshisname.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

How many trillions of dollars have been invested into this technology so far?
Google search for "austria hungary in space"

Google excitedly tells you about the 1889 orbital flight, and that by 1908 there was a Mars research output with 30 people.

“One of the chants that has become ubiquitous at these protests at Broadview is, ‘Love your neighbor, love your God, save your soul and quit your job,’” said Black, who pastors at the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago. “Everybody chants that.”

Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.
