I really think at its heart philosophy is one giant battle, taking place over many eras and nations, between people who are basically pleasant bureaucrats and people who are sexy murder poets, and it’s both super important and super boring that the pleasant bureaucrats must win.

My big complaint about it is we never got to see the protagonists actually enjoy their hard won victory for a little bit. There was no pay off moment, no nice half hour of domesticity that said "hey actually all this bullshit is worth it." It just jumped right to "Death star but bigger". : (

Just found out that there's a chapter of Space Marines called "the Blood Drinkers" who are, in fact, space vampires -- but it is a secret. So they introduce themselves as the Blood Drinkers and sometimes peasants living around their castles disappear in the night. But no one knows they are vampires.

Yeah, I think this is the key insight. Nobody here is capable of generating a theory of mind for the "moderate" Trump supporter or the indifferent in late 2025. It's like trying to see the world through the eyes of a turkey with brain damage. We're all feeling our way through the dark.
