Hi! I'm a #DeveloperAdvocate and I write #docs in the and #WebAssembly space. Previously a #math prof. I'm in the #ADHD or maybe #AuADHD zone of the #Neurodivergent world.

I'm into #ResponsibleAI, #OwnYourData, #a11y, and #FuckWhiteSupremacy.

I like meeting kind people who do neat things!

I don't resent poor people who use food stamps to buy another soft drink.

I resent rich people who take away the funds for food stamps to buy another yacht.

🤖 Did you know your voice might be cloned without your consent from just *one sentence* of audio?
That's not great. So with @frimelle.bsky.social, we brainstormed a new idea for developers who want to curb malicious use: ✨The Voice Consent Gate.✨
Details, code, here: huggingface.co/blog/voice-c...
My kid was helping me last weekend and laughed and said “Mom, you just pulled out a sparkly `Hello world` sticker from @pyladiescon.bsky.social that you got at @pybeach.bsky.social while you were fishing in your bag for the key to the @pybay.bsky.social storage unit.” 😁

PyBay is this Saturday! 🥳
Has anyone done “Chipotles are just smoked jalapeños” yet?
I was probably at least 30 before I found out that pickles were just pickled cucumbers, not an entirely different thing.
Folks, get in here. We’re admitting all the dumb wrong shit we believed until we were way too old.
I was interviewing for a technical writer job with a gov contractor a few years ago and eventually she said “This org supports ICE. You can look them up if you don’t know who they are”.

*sounds of screeching tires*

I said “I do know who they are, and we can stop right here.” 🙅🏻‍♀️
Also: if you work for ICE, even if you’re not one of the ones arresting citizens or tackling 15-year-olds or zip-tying kids together and segregating them by race, you’re part of the mechanism making it happen, and you should suffer long-term social and post-regime-change consequences.
Some weirdo on Twitter has been absolutely melting down for like 36 straight hours because I posted:

When this is over, do not forget what ICE did, and what ICE is. And do not make room for them in society. Make sure they know that they are, and will continue to be, reviled and beneath contempt.

Blessed are the frogs, for they keep making authoritarians look incredibly stupid
If they’ve already moved their data to a different Personal Data Storage (PDS), then their posts and relationships are preserved. AFAIK atm the AppView is harder to replicate but several groups like Blacksky especially are on it.

bsky.app/profile/shar... is way better informed than I, though!

I just don’t know where else to go? Won’t do Meta, and won’t do X. Guess I could try Mastodon again, don’t want to if I can help it.
“Consumption” was tuberculosis and RFK loves that raw milk, so… yes. 🙃

Google controls Streetview data. They spent billions to collect it and they'll happily sell it to you. But with Mapillary, everyone can add to the data and use it as they please for free or nearly free. @openstreetmap.bsky.social is a major partner- it's like Wikipedia for maps!

💯

I was at a show where a mosh pit opened behind me and started to pin me against the stage, and some random dude managed to get his body between the pit and me and braced himself around me and against the stage. Then other folks noticed too and helped him get me safely out. ❤️
Mosh pit rules also apply to gender. Be supportive, kind, and have fun. 🖤

We’re definitely still looking and if you’re an experienced frontend dev who wants to contribute to an open-source tech project that supports a small but impactful humanitarian aid org, then you should most certainly shoot us a message!
As a Frontend Developer at Distribute Aid, you’ll create new pages for our website and update/maintain existing ones, often working closely with our designers and other devs. We’re looking for experienced devs who are reliable, organised, and can communicate well. Volunteer commitment is ~5h/week.
TIL it’s standard procedure to do a uterine biopsy *without anesthetic*. Inserting an IUD without anesthetic is bad enough, but a biopsy?!

#FuckThePatriarchy

Also fuck white supremacy and ableism because they’ve done and still do worse to Black women and women of color, and disabled women.
