Cat: I’ll come sit on this knitting resting on your leg so you can’t knit it and also can’t retrieve it because these paws tucked so sweetly beneath me are armed with knit-destroying hooked knives that will be activated by your pulling the knitting out from below me, which I’ll perceive as a threat

No really, though, why don’t they need fresh air? Can they switch between oxygen and carbon dioxide or what?

White folks don’t even score 100% *human*; we’re all at least 2% Neanderthal. 🤷🏻‍♀️ In fact, the *only* people who are 100% human are those who have entirely African ancestors, as in their DNA’s never left the African continent. All the rest of us are mixed.
So here's the Good news/Bad news depending on how racist you are:

White people are already extinct. It already happened, hundreds of years ago.🤷🏿‍♂️

Your great-great-great grand pappy was getting busy before racism was invented. Now none of y'all score 100% on your 23 and me.
Elon Musk has tweeted nonstop about white babies, white genocide, population decline, and fertility rates for the past week.

This is what it's all about, folks. The supervillain plot is tweeted in real time.

White supremacy. Fear. Anxiety. Hatred. A loathing of diversity.

No moving necessary, even. We (tech folks) never pulled our kids from their Montessori or Waldorf whatever schools, as tech-free as ever and with low teacher:student ratios. We know.
The first school to market itself as AI free is going to corner the market on people interested in actually learning. And I would not be surprised if rich families and the children of people creating this tech were the first movers.
My employer, Dartmouth College, today boasts it's 1st Ivy "to launch AI at an institutional scale." It is doing this by partnering--"more than a collaboration"--with Anthropic, a company that stole the books of many faculty, me included, which many of us are suing.

It's streaming! It's streaming!
I’m sad i missed the screening of Macbeth with David Tennant and Cush Jumbo and I hope it starts streaming somewhere soon. In the meantime I’ll rewatch Denzel and Fran McDormand’s Macbeth which is SO GOOD

And also when you’re passing someone on a walkway and they say “How you doing?” you’re supposed to say the exact same thing straight back and keep walking, without ever answering the question. 🤯 I didn’t realize this until like five years ago.
Did you know that sometimes when people ask you "how are you doing?" they're really asking you to tell them what's been going on with you lately? I didn't *really* understand that until recently. #neurodivergence

Yeah we know how to prevent it: make sure people have a safe place to live and plenty of food to eat so they don't have to resort to theft to survive

The Langdon Lemma (8) got in the car for the school run, searched for “Purple Rain”, and recounted its origin story because he learned about Prince in music class yesterday. I thought @anildash.com would be pleased to hear it. 💜

I don't resent poor people who use food stamps to buy another soft drink.

I resent rich people who take away the funds for food stamps to buy another yacht.

That's not great. So with @frimelle.bsky.social, we brainstormed a new idea for developers who want to curb malicious use: ✨The Voice Consent Gate.✨

My kid was helping me last weekend and laughed and said “Mom, you just pulled out a sparkly `Hello world` sticker from @pyladiescon.bsky.social that you got at @pybeach.bsky.social while you were fishing in your bag for the key to the @pybay.bsky.social storage unit.” 😁

PyBay is this Saturday! 🥳

Has anyone done “Chipotles are just smoked jalapeños” yet?
I was probably at least 30 before I found out that pickles were just pickled cucumbers, not an entirely different thing.
Folks, get in here. We’re admitting all the dumb wrong shit we believed until we were way too old.

I was interviewing for a technical writer job with a gov contractor a few years ago and eventually she said “This org supports ICE. You can look them up if you don’t know who they are”.

*sounds of screeching tires*

I said “I do know who they are, and we can stop right here.” 🙅🏻‍♀️
Also: if you work for ICE, even if you’re not one of the ones arresting citizens or tackling 15-year-olds or zip-tying kids together and segregating them by race, you’re part of the mechanism making it happen, and you should suffer long-term social and post-regime-change consequences.
Some weirdo on Twitter has been absolutely melting down for like 36 straight hours because I posted:

When this is over, do not forget what ICE did, and what ICE is. And do not make room for them in society. Make sure they know that they are, and will continue to be, reviled and beneath contempt.
