Aye, when a car takes out one of the drystones locally the council normally has to cement in or use a brick core to repair because they can't get the skilled people and it's cheaper to use more materials than rebuild using the existing stones :-(

I think a bunch of people heard Farage et al's propaganda aimed at minorities and just assumed everyone thought that despite it being, y'know, propaganda written by posh brexiteers that didn't work

A very subtle "us white folks are too smart to fall for lies but they did" undertone sometimes :-(

Mangle wurzels were a staple crop for centuries until we stopped needed horses for everything, now there's enough better fodder to go around

Course, they were also what people carved jack o'lanterns out of before we discovered pumpkins

Ironically, you don't harvest them with combines ;-)

I have been, very carefully, in the same field as some a couple times because they're nocturnal but cool
