I was doing a spelling test in (I think) 3rd grade and it was words with “-ack” sounds and there was 10 words and after I spelled them all correctly I wrote in “Shaq” as #11 and the teacher TOOK A POINT OFF.

What meaningless thing/experience are you still mad about? Like it should not matter at all, DOES not matter at all. But you’re still MAD.

And how long has it been?

I bought some bagels at Hy-Vee four years ago. So bad. Too big. Hard. Bland. WORTHLESS.

I’m still FURIOUS.

We got zero donations on this today. Let’s help this family stay housed. They’re stressed right out and need the help. Please consider small donation. They add up. I’m hoping I can give them some good news tomorrow. Keep sharing. Someone out there might be able to help.

Hey everyone. I’m really busy this week but I wanted to help a friend raise their late rent money. They’re having a really hard time as a single parent. They need $600 or will face eviction on the 23rd. Anything helps. They’re trying not to end up in a shelter. PayPal/e-transfer [email protected]

Sure, but you can play that game lots of ways. If Chourio’s hamstring is intact, he’s probably still playing center, and I think he struggles with that one too. Just one of those things.

Feels unrelated, but if Yeli (or anyone else really) was hitting the ball better, probably don’t feel the need to start Bauers and Perkins is out there instead.

Frelick is a fearless outfield wall fighter, really good going back to the barrier in right. Struggles with it in center. Gets too close to the wall, makes uneven contact, cuts off his own jump. Teeny tiny things make the difference. (Although hell, if he catches last night’s clean, it’s a run, so)
matrueblood.bsky.social
He really does. Sal misplayed the wall. Alas.

Shit. Perkins catches that.

Good final guesses but didn’t get the last couple. Here are the top six righty batters since 1988 in opposite-field batted balls—those not guessed by the group in caps.

1. Mike Trout
2. Edgar Renteria
3. ELVIS ANDRUS
4. Starlin Castro
T5. Jackson Chourio and CARLOS CORREA

Fun list!

[Screwed this up at first]

Since 1988, five RIGHT-HANDED batters have had more batted balls to the opposite field through their age-21 seasons than Jackson Chourio. Who can name them?

Imagine if two different managers hadn’t intentionally walked him to catalyze game-changing Dodgers rallies despite having really good pitchers on the mound at the time!

Can’t believe we’re paying this guy $2M a year to go 1 for 23 with 11 whiffs in the NLDS/NLCS. 😜

Guesses have slowed, I'll give the remaining two answers in a few minutes, but here's a hint: they played the same position, in the same state.

10th on the list, 152! Another solid guess; we're gonna get it. bsky.app/profile/shee...

Good guess, he finds lots of power by going that way, but didn't do it a lot on an absolute basis when he first came up. 129 oppo batted balls through 21. bsky.app/profile/gilm...
matrueblood.bsky.social
Y'all are good. Yes, Castro's 4th on the list, had 175 batted balls to RF in his first two seasons. Had a chance to be Renteria, might have been except for the MASSIVE makeup issues. bsky.app/profile/elma...
matrueblood.bsky.social
Close, but no cigar. Cabrera had 160 batted balls that way, 10 fewer than Chourio. Puts him ninth on this list. bsky.app/profile/jaco...
matrueblood.bsky.social
Half right, and a good half! Trout is first on the list, had 221 batted balls to RF. ARod didn't use the opposite field much until a bit later, only had 139 in those early seasons. bsky.app/profile/zbd....

Mike Trout and Alex Rodriguez have to be two of them

A challenge for Chicagoans: who can tell me where I took this photo?
A photo of a concrete wall with vertical textured stripes pressed into its surface in groups of two, three, four, and five. A former window in the middle of the wall is filled with cinder blocks.

The @chicago.suntimes.com photographer who risked their personal health and safety to take this photograph is Anthony Vazquez. Please credit photographers and media outlets. In this age of misinformation, a photo with no context could be anything at all.
