Turned on SNL and genuinely thought the Role Model performance was a skit at first.

lol looks like he’s not above Hollywood though. But using his Christian name. (Also, Lena Dunham’s Netflix Rom-Com “Good Sex” sounds like Jumbo Shrimp or Awfully Good.)

I googled young Role and it’s ALL “behold my impudence and smooth tattooed chest” out there.

There’s no “oh it’s that kid from that show” for Mr Model, all modern Tiger Beat shit siloed away by algorithms, so it’s like if you saw this and were like “huh? Why? Is he somebody’s kid? Did he win a contest? Who benefits?” youtu.be/3GVugJj7BUs?...

I like the idea that, thanks to social media, blankly handsome young men willing to sing ok in tight shirts don’t have to first act on a tv show before they can sing on a tv show. This is like if you saw John Travolta singing “let her in” on bandstand without the excuse of him being a sweathog.

Role Model is the artist name for Tucker Pillsbury. He’s from Maine but he dropped out of film school in Pittsburgh in 2017 and started putting out music. His 2017 EP was heard by Mac Miller (hometown is Pittsburgh) who flew him out to LA to work together. He was signed to Interscope in 2018.

Anyone angry over last night’s performance by Role Model on SNL needs to be aware his real name is Tucker Pillsbury.

I was referring to Role Model and who he brought on SNL as 'Sally', but I couldn't remember his name and came up with Good Riddance

Hey kids? Kids? Who the fuck is "Role Model" and why the fuck did anyone think he deserved an SNL slot?

I can't remember being so actively angry at how bad a performer and their songs are, Jesus. This kid looks like he got a book of cheap tattoos slapped on yesterday and sings flat, Christ.

Wasn't sure who Role Model was before this, but somehow I am shocked that a man with this many bad tattoos is a country singer from 2007.

He brought a random Charli XCX as backup dancer for 30 seconds, and it was the highlight of the number.

How this man get to perform on the show's birthday. #SNL

If you think there isn’t systemic racism in the #WNBA ask yourself how the league would react if Angel Reese approached a ref once the way Caitlin Clark does regularly.

This is the first season I’ve really paid attention to the WNBA and it’s been so fun. But there is just nothing fun about the way she presents herself, on or off the court. When people say she’s the best WNBA player or even one of the best female athletes, they are missing out on so many greats.

It’s just so off-putting. And people who think she’s the GOAT only do so because they’re incurious and actually uninterested in basketball as a sport with its own history and are more interested in it as another site of culture war struggle.

Caitlin Clark really is the WNBA player for our current moment: white and full of personal grievances but otherwise “apolitical” and seemingly uninterested in any kind of solidarity

she better be prepping her own statement or I know something (that has always been plainly obvious to clear-eyed people)

I began connecting some dots in a post earlier this year abt the way white Gen X women were talking about Caitlin Clark. There's an expanded analysis to be written, I think, as it pertains to an "anti-woke" lens permeating these formerly liberally-minded women. www.thefrankiedlc.news/p/no-playing...
"Many of the people arguing for less physicality in the W—Brennan, Jenkins, tennis legend Chris Evert—have spent their careers covering or taking part in women's sports (or both). And yet, they’re buying into the oldest sexist trope in the book, a narrative that existed over a century ago as a way to keep women out of sports altogether: That women are too weak to handle physicality in sports.
