Hey! Here, have a pinned thread of my writer stuff.

First, my debut poetry collection came out in June. I'm proud of it. Readers have said it's good, so that's cool. You can get it all the usual places—my favorite is asking an indie bookstore to order it for you via Ingram.
My book when it was at Schuler Books in West Bloomfield and it was front facing on a shelf! How cool is that? The cover is green with yellow text and highlights. The publisher, Match Factory Editions, has a house cover style, so all their books have the same clamshell pattern (like a vintage matchbook!) but in different colors. You can see a bit of the books on either side. It was next to Best American Poetry and a biography of Nina Simone, who is probably one of the coolest human beings ever.

We call this an "epiphany," hoss.

President Trump tells reporters aboard Air Force One that he doesn’t think he’s going to get into heaven.

“I don’t think there’s anything that’s going to get me into heaven.”

(I isolated Trump’s voice)

It's definitely worth a re-read.

Everyone who ever told me to not write about my parenting experience?

This administration just fired everyone in the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services.

Don't forget you told parents to shut up. To keep our lives private. Hidden. Don't forget your role in what's happening.

I love Marie Howe's intro too, about being aghast at first at the rhyme pattern but then falling into its rhythm. So good.

This weekend's sidelines read was @longrules.bsky.social's Nine Acres. Holy smokes did I ever love this book. Somewhere along the line, I connected with Nathaniel on here, and I'm happy I did. Wonderful book. Worth tracking down, though of course if you live nearby you're welcome to borrow mine.
Cover of the book Nine Acres with a baseball field in the background. Nathaniel Perry's poem "Re-making a Neglected Orchard"

It was a good idea, cutting away
the vines and ivy, trimming back
the chest-high thicket lazy years
had let grow here. Though it wasn't for lack

of love for the trees, I'd like to point out.
Years love trees in a way we can't
imagine. They just don't use the fruit
like us; they want instead the slant

of sun through narrow branches, the buckshot
of rain on these old cherries. And we,
now that I think on it, want those
things too, we just always and desperately

want the sugar of the fruit, the best
we'll get from this irascible land:
a sweetness we can gather for years,
new stains staining the stains on our hands.

Unless the city is Fowler, Michigan, I'm guessing that's not accurate, Dan ol' boy.

Dear Capitalism:

I just want to spend time with loved ones and be thankful that I have them and many other blessings.

I could care less if the turkey is a bit dry, or the stuffing isn't perfect. Nobody needs to "up their game" in any way.

Please, stop tiring us out so relentlessly, thanks
