POEM 303: "Sister Shotgun" by Sarah Ellis

"Allegories on the radio and

rain on the windshield, legs tight and twitchy
against the gravitational pull of the glovebox.

This car used to be mine."

I’m sorry but as someone who has a book and a PhD on this exact thing, this is just straight up not true. The majority of Nazis discovered living abroad (particularly in the US, Australia, and UK) faced almost no legal consequences beyond the occasional loss of citizenship.
This is essentially what governments did in the late 1900s and early 2000s with respect to Nazis. Whether you were a lowly concentration camp guard or in Hitler's inner circle, if there was evidence you were a Nazi, it was straight to jail with your walker.

It worked.
Maybe instead of identifying specific ICE agents who do particularly heinous things, we could just penalize everyone who was on payroll at the agency starting by a certain date.

Hollywood is unlikely to make this Barbie movie
Ask French people from Lyon what happened with Klaus Barbie aka the butcher of Lyon. They caught him in the end, but the US had helped him escape to Bolivia, where he lived 40 years teaching their military how to torture leftists

This is the way. Any 2028 Dem candidates need to start saying that on Day One: (1) all ICE agents fired; (2) pensions/benefits defunded; (3) forced to pay backpay as restitution to victims; and (4) only way to avoid prison is to become a cooperating informant

If you work for ICE, quit now.

Your chances for future employment, meaningful friendships, and frankly, not getting shanked in prison are already pretty slim, but if you quit RIGHT NOW you might avoid the worst of what is coming.

Especially if you blow some whistles, and then testify.

From Wikipedia:
"According to the New Mexico State University extension, the common name, "ice plant" is because "they have bladder-like hairs on the leaf surface that reflect and refract light in a manner to make it appear that they sparkle like ice crystals" (or tiny glass beads). "

So, illusion.
Examining life here, this is a picture of an ice plant. Here is a pretty and useful way "ice" shows up. (Why is it called an ice plant? Have to research that, I dunno!)

This is ridiculous. Here where I live, a major ice event is what the winter storm forecast is predicting. Not sure how else it could be worded. I am praying we do not lose power but that's the danger immediately. We not even going to get any pretty snow. ICE sucks one way or another.

DHS officials have urged disaster response staff at FEMA to avoid using the word “ice” in public messaging about the winter storm, sources say.

The concern is that the word could spark confusion or online mockery, given the ongoing controversy surrounding US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
