SCOOP: more than a third of new recruits at the ICE training academy have failed the personal fitness test -- so many that the agency has had to start pre-screening new hires to weed out what one official called "athletically allergic candidates" www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Update from the Mayor of Fairhope, who is hopelessly wrong: 1819news.com/news/item/pe...

Wearing a costume is peaceful.

This is not profanity, but profanity is protected by the First Amendment. Cohen v. California.

This is not obscene. If you think this is erotic, you are alone.
What POTUS is doing with the White House is putting the irons in me. He is a functioning King. Not because he is smart, clever or powerful......but because Congress has abrogated their authority. Democracy is on life support because the GOP wants it to be.
Just a visible go fuck yourself, a middle finger to everyone. That is the whole thing. That is the People's House. And he thinks it's his. He is despicable.

I can't really explain fully why this is the thing of all things that got my jaw on the floor but I guess it's such a literal symbol and also such a jaw dropping amount of money while small businesses are struggling to survive the tariffs

Such a visible "go fuck yourself"
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

My response to the NYT’s “moderate to win” argument: The data shows the strategy is tapped out. Being seen as moderate by voters doesn’t boost votes, replacing every progressive with moderates would net 0 seats, and the graveyard of defeated D incumbents if full of moderates, not progressives.
The New York Times Argues “Moving to the Center Is the Way to Win.” But the Data Shows the Strategy Is Tapped Out.
Democrats already run moderates in nearly every swing district. It's not enough. A data-driven response to the case for centrism as a core electoral strategy.

Whatever you think of the White House as a building or a symbol, the fact is that the image of it being torn apart on a whim two days after 7 million people hit the streets against autocracy is going to make a HUGE amount of people really, really angry, and that's an energy that should be harnessed.

Just witnessed someone trying to fireb*mb Fletcher’s Ice Cream in NE. Saw a dude acting weird next to a parked car in front of the place. I walked by, heard a smash through my earbuds, smelled gasoline/kerosine. Turned around, snapped some photos instinctively. Thankfully they suck at molot*vs.

I feel like I am losing my mind reading this exchange

Lindsey Halligan is just word salad personified
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

/4 The last time I saw a reach-out this undisciplined it was when Michael Avenatti called me at work to tell me that everyone was laughing about what a nobody I am.
Dear God. All of my crummy vacation pics without the food, drinks, meeting people and the joy of finding that one perfect spot that you remember for years. Where do I sign up?
I mean this could all be a coincidence. Like the coincidence in 1997 when I woke up the next morning very hungover after a friend's bachelor party.

While we spectate on The East Wing being torn down, it isn’t just another hallway, it’s where Eleanor Roosevelt built the modern Office of the First Lady, where WWII bunkers were hidden, and where the public enters the People’s House. Erasing it is rewriting history.
