Gonna say something that probably feels harsh.

Black and Minoritized communities have NEVER been able to “opt out” of being the target of these kinds of atrocities.

Relatedly, one red flag I have learned to see lately is the person who *needs* to be the child whisperer.

Because that is a person whose ego is at odds with the child's ability to maintain healthy boundaries and make their own choices about who to trust

Losing my parents before I turned 30 was tough, but it taught me that we get one life and no guarantees of tomorrow.

The year I turned 46 (the age my dad was when he died) I struggled with A LOT of feelings about losing him so suddenly & young. I still occasionally remind myself I have gotten more time with my kids than my dad ever did.

She exceeded the national average life expectancy. My dad died at 46 & I struggle to understand folks not feeling gratitude for the time they’ve gotten to have with older parents. We have a shit culture around grief though so I get that it’s easier to convince yourself older folks will live forever.

i just wish there was any sort of american equivalent (outside of like la,nyc,chicago) of the spa culture in china or korea. just like a crazy place you can go to all day and eat and hang out and soak in a hot tub and get massages or take a nap

I work on a Patient Family Advisory Committee for the local hospital. PLEASE send it back & rip into them about how I appropriate it was for them to send. They DO read every response & now that I know how much patient satisfaction surveys are used in changing policy I have a new respect for them.
