Where did "speed to power" come from? Suddenly hearing it everywhere now. It doesn't even really make sense as a phrase?

All the lip gloss being put on the AI boom as somehow good for climate or the energy transition is masking that, at the present moment, it's a disaster.

Not only more gas generation, but the worst, dirtiest, least efficient kind. Turning the clock back 25 years.

Data Centers Have Solved Their Speed-to-Power Problem — With Natural Gas
“Old economy” companies like Caterpillar and Williams are cashing in by selling smaller, less-efficient turbines to impatient developers.

This good news was brought to us by labor and the Left:

1️⃣ @nyfiscalpolicy.bsky.social set the standard for what to do.
2️⃣ @nysaflcio.bsky.social got Hochul to include this in the final budget (even though she initially excluded it).

It's important to know that Hochul was more against than for it.

Um holy shit. Did Ro Khanna really sit down for an interview with far-right influencer Ian Carroll and share a video of it?

This is really fucking bad. What the fuck is going on?

I’m blocked on the source but this is pretty fucking bad and I hope @workingfamilies.org is seeing this and reconsidering their support.

I used to be able to keep these DAILY MEMOs to under 3 minutes, the last couple videos have been impossible to. ICE is escalating in Los Angeles, just look at the article version with every incident highlighted. This is only what we could confirm, only what we know of. @lataco.bsky.social

I think a lot of old award shows tend to be blocked/clipped because the show as a whole are owned by whatever network aired them originally, and in my experience they don't often release those out.

The elimination of USAID is a moral atrocity and all involved made a choice to enable, and then lie about, ending the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Stephen Miller said the quiet part out loud. Trump has “plenary authority,” then suddenly went silent. Their plan wasn’t to be public yet. Clearly, someone hit the panic button in his earpiece.

It gets weirder: CNN uploaded the interview with the “plenary authority” comment edited out.

If you didn’t know… when you sponsor a green card for your family member to immigrate to the USA, you have to sign an Affidavit of Support. You are responsible for financial support until they become a citizen or work enough. Sponsored immigrants generally can’t receive means-tested public benefits.

Open adoption, a social worker told me, is “an agreement based on promises.” But what happens if some of those promises—to regularly communicate, send updates and photos, allow visits, etc.—aren’t honored? What, if anything, can birth mothers do to protect themselves?

When Adoption Promises Are Broken
Many birth mothers hope to maintain contact with their child. But their agreements with adoptive parents can be fragile.

In the Third Reich, Hitler’s will replaced German law. Whatever he wanted, he did.

Life in the early months of Trump’s second presidency hews to this framework in important respects.
The “dual state” theory was invented to describe Nazis. The Supreme Court could take us there.
Authoritarianism—but make it look like the rule of law.

NEW inside CBS—

Staff are insulted executives will spend $150 million to buy The Free Press & make self-proclaimed “Zionist fanatic” Bari Weiss Editor-in-Chief, while many of them are set to be laid off.

“If I wrote 90 percent of what’s on The Free Press, I would get flagged and fired,” one says.
‘What the F**k?’ CBS News Insiders Prepare for Takeover by Self-Described ‘Zionist Fanatic’
Bari Weiss is expected to be announced as editor-in-chief of CBS News, as employees worry her new role will bring a pro-Israel bias, more censorship, and lower editorial standards.

I caution that we still don't know why Judge Diane Goodstein's home burned down.

But more than 24 hours since the incident, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, and the AP combined have run exactly zero articles or updates about the developing situation.
