And I’m most grateful they let me say this in the last graf, something I’ve been try to get at with these ICE flights for awhile.

The disparity between the luxurious aircraft and its shackled, vilified passengers must have been quite a sight, but they are not unrelated. Corrupt officials transferring state funds to personal accounts, governments with empty treasuries and desperate citizens, luxury highrises, the criminalization of the unhoused and undocumented, billions spent on political campaign pageantry, aiding genocide from a faraway ballroom and calling it "charity," tax breaks for flying masked agents and nameless prisoners under cover of darkness - all are the spoils of oligarchy.

Today my daughter's preschool is holding a farewell assembly for one of her classmates whose mother has no choice but to self deport. The school is hoping it will be joyful in tone, so we might make this less upsetting for this 3 year old.

There's just no words for the uselessness of this cruelty.

I teach in my undergrad class on the history of the US jury system that the institution's roots are in colonial juries serving as a counterweight to abuses of imperial power. The American jury has problems for sure but still can serve that roll. Don't blow off jury service.

Directors have more in common with the CEOs pushing this tech than they do with an average artist. Their dream is to speak their ideas into a tube and have them manifested. Right now the people tasked with executing their visions have feelings, opinions, needs. And those can get in the way.

Recently took a LONG cross country Amtrak trip that was phenomenal.

But people kept looking at me 🤨 when I said the main reason I didn’t fly is being locked up in a delicate space with my fellow Americans rn sounds like a nightmare. Anecdotes in the minority I’m sure, but stories like this… pass.
