... they're... watching TV and cartoons.

And that becomes their only litmus test for good writing, that becomes the standard.

And that's what I resent about the YAification of fantasy lit. Few actually read fantasy any more complex than a D&D core manual, but they certainly...

#HorrorWritersChat Question 4: And I smiled at the chance to finally face my fears.

Come forth, Baron Crescendo! Let your guitar split the sky open, for more wraiths to dazzle us!

Behold, a note from him, for you!

“The moment you entered the graveyard, the scrape of ancient stone shadowed your ears.”

Finish it! With word of rhyme, before we dance to the end!

#HorrorWritersChat
Art by Jelle Husson, featuring a haunted monastery of many sharp-tipped towers scraping at the midnight sky. The largest is in the centre of the structure’s roof, whose walls are painted white. The monastery is located above a hilly terrain of dark stone and dark green moss. A stony, twisting road leads to the monastery.

Question Four

There he is! Baron Crescendo! Oh how the skies split open to his guitar, how more of us fly in the air! And look, a note from him, just for you!

“The moment you entered the graveyard, the scrape of ancient stone shadowed your ears.”

Well? Go on! Word or rhyme, continue his Muse!

No links, covers, or self-promo! Leave that for the end! Quote the post & include the hashtag!

Qatar, a Shariah Law Middle Eastern kingdom that is one of the state sponsors of Hamas, gets an Air Force base in… Idaho.

(#Idaho is in America.)

Republicans whined for decades that Dems wanted Sharia Law in the U.S. but Trump actually delivered it in less than 9 months.

Cishet here, but I say absolutely! Horror is often transgressive and progressive and in the forefront of speculative fiction. Granted, horror is also often the opposite as well. But, Otherness is the bread and butter of the genre.

Our third LP “FEELS LIKE HELL” is OUT NOW via @dongiovannirecords !

This record, this band, exists because of the people who hold us up. The community that listens, that shows up, that makes the noise worth creating. We love you. We’re endlessly grateful.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW: SCRIBBLER JOHNNY
Q: Who are your biggest influences?
A: Rumiko Takahashi and Stephen King probably.

Q:What horror movie was the last one to scare you, and why?
A: Sweet Home. It seems a bit silly at first, but it gets really into that grueling horror like Evil Dead, and with very effective special effects.

Q: Favorite snack to go with a horror movie?
A: Chocolate!

Want to know more about the inspirations behind Wheelchair Seating for the Apocalypse?Check out this week's #authorinterview. K.Q. Watson talks favorite horror movies, underappreciated books, and Canadian movie snacks.
Meet author K. Q. Watson kqwatson.bsky.social and her book Wheelchair Seating for the Apocalypse!
Q: What do you love about horror?
A: I love how horror explores dark and twisted things, and sometimes finds humanity or understanding in them. Or sometimes it's apologetically vile.

Q: Who are your biggest influences?
A: Two of my favourite movies are Jacob's Ladder (1990's one) and SEVEN. The aesthetics of those movies are just perfect. I'm also really inspired by HR Giger, Joel-Peter Witkin, and the Silent Hill video games.

Q: What horror movie was the last one to scare you, and why?
A: Alien Romulus I think. I actually don't watch many horror movies. I really loved Sinners but I wouldn't call it scary. Also, Cats.

Q: What horror book/creator is seriously underappreciated and why do you love them?
A: I feel like I'm the only person who enjoyed Cassandra Khaw's The Salt Grows Heavy. It's very lyrical and purple prose but it's genuinely disturbing and I absolutely loved it.

Q: Favorite snack to go with a horror movie?
A: My favourite snack to ever snack for any occasion is Hawkin's Cheezies because Canadians gonna Canadian, but if I'm in a theatre or something, popcorn with Maltesers mixed in.

Unbeknownst to most or long forgotten is that on October 8 and October 10, 2023; Hamas offered the same deal that’s being pitched as Trump’s “Gaza Peace Deal” which would have handed all hostages over to Israel in exchange for Israeli troops not entering the strip, Netanyahu refused the proposal.

HORROR FOR WEENIES is such a labor of love, and Emily's prose in describing the films she selects is just beautiful. Very rare that a tastemaker has the chops to dissect and reassemble a genre like this, but she's got it.
