Having fights in my head with imaginary people over things I haven't actually said

I’d add a note that it is perfectly fine to buy the flytraps in little pots with plastic lids sold in places like Home Depot. Those are propagated via tissue culture and are great for learning to cultivate carnivorous plants.

And if you see a poacher, aim your kick a little higher than the shins.

still amazing to me the number of movies, games, etc. which have Venus Flytrap-based creatures in some form compared to the actual native range of Venus Flytrap, which is like, the great untamed jungles of a few wet pine savannas in North Carolina
map illustrating the native range of Venus Flytrap plants, just a little half circle around coastal North and South Carolina in USA

There are no carnivorous plants big enough to eat you, and there’s a good reason for that. Check out this piece I wrote for Smithsonian Magazine to learn why. 🌱

zebra shark, adult and juvenile

(Swim On 9, 2023) #art #sciart 🎨🦑🦈
Illustration of a juvenile and adult zebra shark swimming near the ocean floor. Sunlight streams through the water, light refracting onto the sand and backs of each shark. The adult swims below in a gentle curve while the juvenile swims overhead, demonstrating the black and white stripes that earned this shark its name.

ICE secretly kidnap autistic boy during bathroom break—never notify parents.

Mother reported him missing a week ago—turns out ICE had him detained the whole time.

He was helping sell fruit and asked to go to the restroom—by the time she was done helping a customer he was gone.

Every local police force is going to endure all manner of hazing and abuse from ICE and every state and local leader will hem and haw about it but will ultimately capitulate and assist and you need to understand this.

Overall yeah. Their humans are better off than the average Imperium human, which (imo) makes them less likely to get corrupted than the average human in the empire (why worship nurgle if you have good healthcare for example) that's only *less* likely, not *un*likely.

I don't think geologists have ignored catastrophic events for at least 70 years, one again creationists fail to open a textbook that was published later than the Nixon administration

That high standard of living likely reduces the corruptibility of the general populace, and the Tau have naturally small souls they are much less likely to fall to chaos.
smilodonichthys.bsky.social
That's basically my read on them. They've got this authoritarian caste structure and the guys at the top might be mind controlling their own species but the average standard of living within their empire is high, even for the lower classes and certainly better than most of the imperium

The palpable relief of reading a syntactically awkward student paper nevertheless brimming with ideas they’re trying on after having to consume the stale cardboard generalities of a Chat GPT essay.
