apparently the new Netflix show Monster: The Ed Gein Story invented an "autogynephilia" backstory for their serial killer (because of course they did!). so time to re-up my collection of writings on this pseudoscientific zombie theory...

Once you understand third-sexing as a core part of patriarchal society, enabling cis men to consume sexual commodities without risking their own position in the gender heirarchy, this stuff clicks into place.

it's a 4chan thing that won't go away, and the culture around it was and remains horrendous and very anti trans. term is diluted these days but it still creeps me out to see people self identify that way.

if you really want to get yelled at you can mention how femboy culture is a system of modern day pederasty designed to silo young effeminate boys and trans girls away from self actualization and community support in order to turn them into safe, sexual commodities for patriarchal exploitation.

Thinking more about this, the relationship of gender clinics to trans people has always been extractive. They make money and careers off the suffering they inflict on us.

it's just madness. i have encountered a TERF lesbian maybe once. i am friends with numerous cis lesbians. they all welcome trans people and respect my gfs pronouns and shit without question.

it's all so Tiresome okay

there's always this false idea (mostly touted by TERFs even) that lesbians are hyper exclusive and we need to invent new non-lesbian terms that "include trans people" or whatever as if lesbianism hasnt like. always done that

my nonbinary ass with my girlfriends nonbinary ass finding out we arent lesbians anymore or something and we have to use some new term: what

like idk there seems to be so much mind poison about lesbian discourse because someone took a redditor too seriously at some point in their life

i don't know i see so much discourse about lesbians that i never even really hear from lesbians it kind of drives me insane.

like the narrative that "well sapphic includes nonbinary people because they can't be lesbians" i've seen over and over has blown my mind countless times

me always: i love bi and pan women in my spaces, i love trans women too. i also love and hang out with trans men

non-lesbians: (not listening and also talking over me about how i am to other non-lesbians)
catastro-v.bsky.social
and ofc the people pushing "we need to be hyperexclusionary towards bi/trans women in lesbian spaces" are overwhelmingly not lesbians, but lesbians take the flak for it

Episode Four is now out wherever you get your podcasts!

Give it a listen for amusing discussions on made-up slurs, and much less amusing discussions on how a religious studies dissertation from the 70s was turned into a book whose transphobic policy prescriptions are largely followed today.

Link to an actual good, feminist podcast that's co-hosted by a trans woman of color, and which doesn't charge people to guest on it. bsky.app/profile/crac...

Talia and Emma dissect 'The Transsexual Empire', a foundational text for the GC movement. They discuss the history of radical lesbian feminism, the embattled discourse over trans women's place in it, and the way trans-exclusionary 'radfems' codified a feminist pretext for bigotry.

I find Cracked Ivory an excellent way to 'do the reading' when you're—like me—too bimbo-brained to actually wrestle with academia. You get a lot of laughs plus enough tidbits that you can hold your own in a conversation about Raymond (without going "oh, the smug cat villager in Animal Crossing?")

anyway people should listen to @crackedivorypod.bsky.social it's a good podcast, even if it doesn't bring up Resident Evil as often as they indicate they might. They haven't even talked about how transmisogynistic Code Veronica is, smdh. But other than that, good podcast

Listening to the Cracked Ivory podcast and it's pretty good, although I'm slightly confused about why the hosts keep calling themselves Resident Evil lesbians. RE hasn't even come up yet across the first couple episodes. When are they gonna talk about Jill x Rebecca??

Asserting that a woman is by default sexually available to men and it's "exclusionary", "biphobic", or even "TERFy" to say that she's a lesbian is common in discussions of queer media.
faerynnistired.itch.io
sexuality discourse in fandom is hardly pressing but the whole thing is really fucking difficult as a lesbian (especially when you consider that artists and writers have been harassed and doxxed for “getting it wrong”) who likes art and media.

Lesbian is the “bi-erasure” sexuality to fandomites

yeah its wild how much 'bi-erasure' has been repurposed as a way to call lesbians The Real Bigots without getting called on being lesbophobic. like i'm not sure ive ever seen a man accused of bi-erasure. it's always lesbians, and that goes for outside fandom spaces as well.

and again, as someone who likes to engage in art and media, including popular shit it’s so ridiculous to just not be able to call a character or couple you like a lesbian or lesbian couple. it’s isolating. it’s alienating.

it can even be unsafe to argue why you think a character is lesbian. sucks

can be sexualized (as they are in real life. a man negging a woman is “banter”).

so unless writers or creators explicitly say that a character is a lesbian, you can’t actually call her that without people breathing down your neck that actually you’re erasing bisexuals. it’s exhausting

and like, it’s easy right? it’s difficult to prove a negative. heterosexuality is the default. so if a character ends up with or has a tragic relationship with a woman in a piece of media (but nothing with men) it’s much, much, much safer to call her bisexual.

even negative interactions with men…
