2D - various charter language clean-up and clarification amendments.
2B - special elections will be held for mayoral vacancies with > 1 year remaining in term and > 90 days away from a regular municipal election.

2C - increases time for initiative petition gathering from 21 days to 120 days (and referenda petitions from 21 to 30 days).
All four @thorntonco.gov city charter amendments passed with comfortable margins:

2A - partial council/mayor term for < 2 years will not be considered a term in office for term limit purposes

And the Ward 4 lead has flipped again, now with a 24-vote gap.

AS AN EXAMPLE: Aurora, Colorado. Dominated by conservative politics for over a decade. All five city council seats last night? Won by Democrats.

And not like, the kind of milquetoast centrist Democrats we've been told are the only kind of people who can win.

Pressuring people to drop ethics complaints reflects poorly, @coloradodems.org @cohousedem.bsky.social @cosendem.bsky.social
After word of the complaints leaked yesterday, Colorado Common Cause was pressured to drop the idea because, Common Cause’s attorney said, it would reflect poorly on Democrats. The attorney declined to identify who had pressured his group to drop the ethics complaints.
Colorado Common Cause alleges more than a dozen Democratic lawmakers violated the state's prohibition on gift-giving when they asked a prominent dark-money organization to help pay for an October mountain retreat // Story by @sethklamann.bsky.social

This is what you will see first about Alli Jackson when you hit her website.

This is not someone talking about public-private partnerships and paying homage to small business. She is prioritizing immigrants, unionization, the environment.

today, we will treat sewage.

we will manage the foul remnants of our past, the health of our present, the hope of our future.

days end, but the mission endures.

because there will be sewage to treat tomorrow. but this day is today.

and today, we will treat sewage.
The Ward 4 counting flipped over night. Former 2nd place now leads by 25 votes.

As of 8:14 pm, @thorntonco.gov Ward 4 first place was leading by 35 votes.

In the last municipal election, the Ward 2 race took some days to be finalized. We may need to wait again in this election for the Ward 4 results.
Voters really want to have a direct say in how @thorntonco.gov fills mayoral vacancies:

Adams County last to count all votes

Happy about Mamdani, happy about the other results, but especially glad Coloradans have agreed to properly fund the universal free scho lunch program and elect reasonable people to its school boards.
Ballot Question 2C for @thorntonco.gov, which extends time to collect petition signatures for ballot initiatives and referenda, has 61% for and 38% against.

Colorado Republicans had targeted school board races as their best opportunity in 2026 but teachers union and Democrat-backed candidates lead in Denver, Jefferson County, Cherry Creek, and even conservative Douglas County, per 9NEWS' Jennifer Meckles. #copolitics
This year's Ward 2 race first place is 700+ votes ahead.

Ward 3 is ahead by 99.

That feeling when participating in local elections matters (always). Progressives across the board in my district!

If you are a Democratic senator watching these results and the lesson you take is "I should cave and help Republicans reopen the government for nothing more than a promise written on toilet paper" then you shouldn't be in the Senate anymore
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

In the intro issue of New Left Review, Stuart Hall noted, “The humanist strengths of socialism—which are the foundations for a genuinely popular socialist movement—must be developed in cultural and social terms, as well as in economic and political.“

Zohran Kwame Mamdani‘s campaign got the point!

This to me is the game. I don’t care if Schumer doesn’t like Mamdani, but for him to stand silently by while sex pest Cuomo leans into gutter racism and Islamophobia while accepting endorsements from Trump, Musk and Miller is outrageous from the Senate Minority Leader.
Schumer had a chance to repudiate the gutter racism and Islamophobia of Cuomo's campaign and he just fucking didn't. And that is disqualifying. He should be ashamed and we the voters should make sure he feels that shame.
Reporter: Today is election day in New York City. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?

Schumer: Look, I voted. And I look forward to working with the next mayor to help New York City.
