I just realized that Caroline Calloway is actually a year older than Olivia Nuzzi.
read a little bit of the pdf and Olivia Nuzzi is the kind of writer Caroline Calloway wants to be

Rolling Stone: clearly documents a 30+ year long con job. A rural county's own leadership lined their pockets by helping ag interests destroy the water supply.

Everyone who read the article apparently??: Amazon data centers did this in 2011

Resharing for #WorldCoatiDay
#WorldCoatiDay Unlike Gessner’s South American Coati (see previous post), Aldrovandi’s woodcut published in _De quadrupedibus digitatis viviparis_ (1637) was modeled from an original illustration by Arcimboldo of a much rarer Mountain Coati (Nasuella spp.) in a Habsburg court menagerie (c.1575-1600)

A break from my enormous collection of polar bear pictures.
I took this one from my kayak on my last paddle of the year in October. It was only a few degrees above freezing but I was hoping the find the coyote pack again. I found one of their sentinels, but not the whole group. #mammals 🌿

a load-bearing component of “the magic of Christmas” is the invisible domestic labor of moms

you are now realizing how much she was doing for you and instead of just thanking her you’ve decided it’s about the decline of civilization
Because you're an adult you fucking muppet. You gotta pay the magic forward.

I wish they were forced to break down this supposed crisis into components. Sports gambling is predominantly a men's problem. Poor body image seems to be a young men's problem. Fascist radicalization becomes a problem for everyone, but mostly originates with white people and especially white men.
also weird that "masculinity crisis" doesn't get scare quotes in media. it's just framed as something real

I am once again asking folks not to repost every single post in a long thread, and especially not to do it in the order they're reading. A whole screen full of an extended argument that I've already read is bad enough. All that plus backwards makes me want to mute either the poster or the reposter.

It’s an ugly tactic. Note they aren’t trying to support restaurants by say, working out policy to address costs of commercial rent, or consolidation among food suppliers, noooo, it’s those pesky servers making too much money who need to be brought down a peg.
Colorado’s HB1208 would let cities lower their tipped minimum to the state rate. Supporters say it will ease pressure on restaurants. Labor advocates warn it would cut worker pay by about $2.50 an hour and roll back gains in cities that raised wages. @judyamabileco.bsky.social
