It might seem obvious that if you value something, you'll make an effort to get better at it. What's less intuitive is that if you make an effort to get better at something you're not good at, you'll learn its value.

This is why spoilers are actually a good thing sometimes. Because otherwise you might not get the point.

TFW you paid $1400 to see Beckett’s most famous work without knowing anything about it
One Star Review of Waiting for Godot on Broadway
I recently attended Waiting for Godot on Broadway and spent over $1,400 for two Row C seats (103 and 104). I'm a longtime admirer of Broadway productions and even hold a season pass for Shea's Performing Arts Theatre, so I came in with genuine enthusiasm and high expectations. Unfortunately, this show was unlike anything ! have ever experienced —and not in a good way.
What I encountered was not the artistry, music, or emotional storytelling I usually associate with Broadway, but instead what felt like an endless cycle of nonsensical conversation between characters who seemed trapped in their own madness. I tried-truly tried-to find meaning, symbolism, or even a thread of emotional resonance. I stayed through the first half hoping the second would offer clarity. But by intermission, it was clear: this was a waste of both time and money.
Keanu Reeves is an actor I respect greatly, but I cannot fathom why he would agree to participate in such a disjointed, inaccessible production. His talent was lost in a performance that defied reason rather than provoked insight.
To anyone considering attending: unless you are drawn to highly abstract, nearly incomprehensible theater, I strongly caution you against this show. For the average, educated, thoughtful theatergoer, it is far more frustrating than fulfilling. In my opinion, this was the single most disappointing Broadway experience I've ever had - an unfortunate waste of money and, more importantly, of time.

At a conference in Estonia, a panelist discussing AI and its regulation remarks, “I’m pretty sure the U.S. is clear where it stands on western values.” Audience chuckles.

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

It is my daily frustration that we could have OCR that reliably knows the difference between arms and anus but instead we are in an exestential fight to keep them from implementing features in excel that make it incapable of doing a math

Find a way to move your body. A sedentary lifestyle wrecks your shit so bad, and it’ll start catching up to you about now if it hasn’t already. Exercise, lift weights, play a sport, literally anything.

On the other hand, last year a package for me was abandoned by the courier on top of a car on a hill in Strathmore. and the owner of the CAR called me and delivered it. So I don't have much faith in couriers anymore.

(I don't live in Strathmore)

The part of this that's weird to me is that someone at NZ Post called me (obviously my phone number is on the package).

But... if the delivery driver can't find the address, and calls the depot or whatever, surely they can simply tell him "yes, it's a real address" instead of having to ask me.
tom.eastman.nz
NZ Post called me because a delivery person couldn't find my address, they called to check if the address exists.

The address was correct.

They deliver mail there several times per week.

NZ Post are the ones who decide what peoples' addresses are, aren't they?

My statement is simply this: they're using deadly force on unarmed, peaceful civilians. At some point they're going to kill someone on camera, and I do not know that we can control what will happen after that.

this also feels like a great time to point out that getting people to debate what should be indisputable is a tactic deliberately employed by fascism to continue shifting the overton window.

and it’s consistently really effective.

my pro tip for a better bluesky experience:

1. find someone, ideally a woman or more fashionable gender identity, who is smart and well-informed

2. block the weird reply guys in their mentions saying patronising shit they wouldn’t dare to say to you

3. wait six months for this to pay off
