In Speaker Johnson’s district, people would see their health care premiums skyrocket $2,284 per month if Republicans refuse to protect health care.

Republicans are making their own constituents poorer and sicker.

You can understand this shutdown with 3 numbers.

15M — the number of people Republicans want to kick off health care

20M — the number of people Republicans want to 2x health premiums for

0 — the number of times Republicans have called the House back to reopen the government

Trump gets $5 billion in corrupt crypto deals, a $400 million “palace in the sky”, millions in payouts from Amazon and Meta.

But when Democrats demand affordable health care for working people? Republicans shut down the government.

There’s a lot of information and disinformation out there about the health care crisis Americans face and the Republican shutdown – let’s clear some things up.

We’re baaaack! Again! But the House GOP lockout continues. Regardless, we show up—because we know the assignment and are here to fight for a solution to reopen the government and save healthcare for millions.

My mother’s parents, Rosendo Bringas and Amalia Castaños, immigrated to the United States from Mexico in search of a better life for their family.

I’m inspired by their journey and honor them this Hispanic Heritage Month.

George Floyd should still be here to celebrate his 52nd birthday. His life sparked a movement, and our fight for justice, accountability, and humanity continues. We’ll never stop saying his name.

ICE unleashed chemical warfare on our neighbors in Chicago yesterday. The East Side looked like a battlefield in our own city. Our city is shaken but not broken. Bullies always fear the power of a united people.
A car crash involving federal immigration agents late Tuesday morning in the East Side neighborhood led to agents deploying tear gas after a large crowd gathered in protest of the federal agents.

Over 300,000 Black women have lost jobs this year

In Minneapolis, Sheletta Brundidge is hosting a job fair for Black women, by Black women.

This is what community looks like. When doors close, we open new ones. 💙

Groceries? More expensive.
Beef? At an all-time high.
Jobs? Slowing down.
Tariffs? You’re paying for them.

Trump called it “America First.”
Turns out he meant “Americans Pay First".

Without the extension of ACA credits, healthcare costs will increase nationwide. Wyoming will see a 693% increase, while West Virginia could see as high as 654%.

We need to make healthcare affordable, not crush Americans with high costs.

Representative-elect Grijalva DOES NOT WANT "pomp-and-circumstance."

Since her victory weeks ago, she has been VERY clear that all she wants is for Speaker Johnson to swear her in so she can sign the Epstein petition and begin serving Arizona's 7th District.

Americans are sick of the excuses.

Dems are launching an investigation into a recent Chicago immigration raid where people, US citizens included, were violently pulled from their beds in the middle of the night & children were zip-tied, separated from their parents.

This is appalling & there must be accountability.

In past shutdowns, Congress has been in session and voting. This time, Speaker Johnson has closed the House floor and stopped all negotiations. We should be negotiating right now.

From every corner of the country, Dems showed up for work—traveling long days to do our jobs, to reopen the government, to save healthcare, to support our communities, and to save our democracy. Because, that is what we do. But, where are our GOP colleagues? Nowhere to be found.

A masked ICE agent pointed a gun at a US citizen because she was filming him.

Another shot a priest with a pepper spray gun because he was protesting.

The priest said “we could hear them laughing.”

Trump is using cruelty and fear to silence Americans and rob us of our rights. We won’t let him.

Trump’s threats to invoke the Insurrection Act is an alarming escalation ripped straight from the Project 2025 playbook.

He would rather militantly crack down on peaceful, lawful protests than work across the aisle to open the government and protect health insurance for Americans.

We do not deploy American forces against Americans in our own cities.

Our military is not trained for domestic law enforcement.

It’s illegal and un-American.

At our town hall on Friday, hundreds turned out asking the same questions we're all asking: Will we get paid? Will we keep our healthcare? Will our democracy survive this chaos?

I hear you. I see you. And that is why we are fighting to protect our democracy and our communities.

Catharyne, a healthcare worker, made it plain:

Republicans created a healthcare crisis that will cause hospitals to close, healthcare costs to jump, & lives to be put at risk.

But instead of working with Democrats to address that harm, Republicans have shut down the government.

Yesterday, I asked Americans from across the country how a DOUBLING of monthly health care premiums would affect their families.

Responses have already come in, but we need more.

If you want to share your story, send an email or video to [email protected]
I'm asking YOU:

What will a doubling of health care premiums mean for your family?

What it will mean if you're one of the 15 million being thrown off their health care?

Here’s what we’re fighting for: Americans could see their premiums raised by an average of 114 PERCENT if Congress doesn’t extend Affordable Care Act tax credits. A 60-year-old couple making $85,000 will see their health care costs increase by $22,600! Totally unacceptable.

I spoke with federal workers fired under Trump and his allies. Now, with Russell Vought pushing to expand those purges through a GOP-led shutdown, they’re sounding the alarm about the lasting damage these reckless firings could do to the civil service.
