People are talking about this as an AWS or centralization issue, but really it's a symptom of a different problem of software resilience much bigger than Amazon: Almost no software of any kind accounts for the possibility that it wouldn't be successfully connected to the internet all the time.

This is one of the things I am so angry at the media about, the way that ordinary journalists went along with their absolutely frothing at the mouth colleagues and never thought to go "Uhhh, your friends are trying to change the law, does that not make YOU the activists?"

Seeing game devs take a "the customer is always right" approach to feedback is so sad because like I get it from a PR perspective, but...

This Vodafone broadband outage has meant I'm using mobile data instead, so I don't get the benefits of my Pihole ad blocker, and fuck me I hadn't realised how bad it had got in some places. How does anyone read any newspaper website?
