What is "News Stills That Look Like Shitposts" for $500?, Alex?
In retrospect, I don't know if this was a winning message

Very happy to have lived long enough to see people finally grapple with the harm that self-important little bastard has inflicted on the world... and find out, end of the day, he's just a scared man-child, like all the rest.
New from me in the @newstatesman1913.bsky.social: the media seem determined to mainstream the ideas of Eliezer Yudkowsky, but they can't reckon with his bizarre (and very unserious) ideas about death.

Eliezer Yudkowsky is confusing a very human obsession with death and a very modern fear of a techno-deity

Luis has a great point about finding the freedom within the space. When I look at something like PbtA, I can see the scaffolding and the free space is cavernous as a superstructure. But as he so eloquently puts it, if you don't read the book then everything feels like a straightjacket.
Is the Rule of Cool... lazy? 😳

It wasn't deep. It didn't have much to say. But Xiao Xiao inspired millions to try Flash animation for themselves.

A Beijing artist made this series -- and turned stick fights into a phenomenon. We're exploring why and how he did it:

Based on Alex Raymond's comic strip, the "Jungle Jim" radio show premiered 90 years ago, on November 2, 1935. Jungle Jim was voiced by Matt Crowley, who voiced other comics characters on the radio, such as Buck Rogers, Dick Tracy and Mark Trail. Here's the Jungle Jim strip from November 3, 1935.

One of the craziest episodes of POWER RANGERS establishes that Japan has made a show based on the actual hero activities in America.

Peach blossoms in Chinese lore bloom with love and longing.
In the Tang Dynasty(618–907), poet Cui Hu met a maiden beneath blooming trees during Qingming. Too shy to speak his heart, he left in silence. A year later, he returned, only to find her gone, the door shut.

he wrote: “Last year, her face and peach blossoms blushed together. Now her face is gone, but blossoms still smile in spring’s breeze.” (去年今日此門中,人面桃花相映紅。人面不知何處去,桃花依舊笑春風。)
A fleeting encounter, forever etched in verse. 2/2

can't believe outlets are running moral-panic headlines again based on flimsy anecdata from the *same* trade group (the national retailer federation) and sponsored by the *same* anti-theft company (sensormatic) that had to retract this *same* "study" just two years ago for being bogus.

You there. I want you to say, aloud, at some point today "I'm really glad I'm good at..." And then you're gonna say something you think you do pretty well.

If you don't think you do anything pretty well, I want you to say "one little thing that makes me unique is..."

And if you can't do either?

The fascists know deplatforming works. It's why they shut down pro-queer, anti-fascist, and inclusionary messaging wherever they can.
Deplatforming Nick Fuentes was what kept him from being mainstreamed, it worked. Elon's replatforming of all of these people and allowing actual Nazis around is why the US government is now publishing white supremacist propaganda regularly.

This is not a new debate. Deplatforming works.
Mind-blowing stuff from Robby Soave.

"Podcasters should not avoid Fuentes." Of course they should. Deplatforming Nazis is good. Not amplifying them is not censorship.

Also laughable to claim Fuentes has been deplatformed. His growing reach is directly tied to MAGA destigmatizing naked racism.
There was a fair bit of that in my town as well. Weather was crappy, most of those who went out were little kids with parents, but the few teens we got were REALLY nice to keep the little once from slipping in the rain, making sure they got fair shares, etc.
