Interesting (to me, at least) encounter yesterday with an axe-wielding killer:
I was out getting steps when a homeowner called me over. I turned. He started approaching me and I saw that he was holding a hatchet. He asked me a question - I think it was something like ‘Can you help me?’ ‘Not when you’re holding an axe!,’ I half-yelled.

Story 🧵.
Semi-spoiler: Snake!

Vance is the embodiment of the cowardice and complicity in the GOP.

In a blink of an eye, Vance went from decrying Trump as a dangerous nut who would be "America's Hitler" to happily serving as his loyal little lickspittle. He can't be shamed, but he should still be insulted as often as possible.
Shapiro: J.D. Vance is profoundly and pathetically a weak human being, and he does whatever he thinks his boss wants him to do.

What we need right now is not idiotic gaslighting from the sitting VP

He should be ashamed of himself—and he’s not. I think that speaks to the weakness of his character.

I know we're in the midst of a catastrophe-loop, designed to desensitize us to the disaster and violence of the Trump regime. But it's still noteworthy that the official messaging of a Cabinet-level department is straightforwardly bullhorning QAnon slogans.

"It would be hard, but not impossible, to try the ICE shooter on state charges and obtain a state-law conviction that Trump couldn’t wipe away. It might seem like the longest shot in the world, but honestly, we have to try something, anything, to stop this — not just in Minnesota, but everywhere."

One of my goals in the remaining years of my career as a columnist is to be around when soulless sacks like this beg forgiveness and cry crocodile tears seeking redemption. I want to be there to tell them: No. Sit in your space on the wrong side of history and live with the cruel choices you made.

They don't have capacity to terrorize more than 2-3 cities at a time.

Which means they rotate teams to new cities without relief.

Which means consistent resistance by fresh activists in each new city will break them over time.

Which means if you're city's not occupied, rest up and get ready.

Mostly unrelated, but this goes to a Kennedy Center Fracas Explains Everything Theory.

1) Dude blew up a successful arts/culture center to make it terrible and lame
2) Great artists stopped coming and audiences followed suit.
3) Now trying to unsuccessfully badger ppl into wanting what he wants.
This seems most likely to end with Greenlanders cashing their $10,000 checks and laughing as they give Donald Trump the middle finger and stay with Denmark—a country with a far better social safety net than anything the US offers.

Trump can’t comprehend how unattractive he’s made joining the US.
Wait wait wait, while Americans have to pay hundreds of billions of dollars in new tariffs, Trump is going send over $10,000 to each person in *Greenland*?????????

This is a joke right ?

It's time to state clearly that if MAGA and Republicans can't condemn any part of this shooting, continue to blame the victim for it, and even hint that it's a just outcome that others "deserve," that's a crossing of the line that the rest of us won't ever be able to forget.

The guy known for stiffing his contractors, stealing from charities, cheating on his wives, lying pathologically, trying to steal an election, trying to blackmail foreign leaders, and proudly sexually assaulting women? That morality?
President Trump declared on Wednesday evening that his power as commander in chief is constrained only by his “own morality,” brushing aside international law and other checks on his ability to use military might to strike, invade or coerce nations around the world.

A friendly reminder that no ICE officer has ever been killed in the line of duty in a hostile incident.

Being an elementary schoolchild in America is far more deadly and dangerous than being an ICE officer.
If you’re scared of a Honda Pilot driving less than 5 miles an hour, with its wheels pointing away from you, you should not be working in law-enforcement…

You shouldn’t have a gun. You shouldn’t have a badge. You should find a new line of work.

The Difference Between Renee Good and Ashli Babbitt Is Fascism

What a title. Really illustrates the point.
"Should the opposition ever regain power, it should commit to prosecuting members of this regime at every level to the fullest extent of the law."

One thing that's increasingly clear to me is that most elected officials are not up to the challenge of governing in a hostile environment. When the civility norms break down they can't cope.

We need an incoming class of "don't give a fuck, fight me" politicians. Let them loose for a few terms.

Note: This move not only cuts out state access, but it undermines one of the most concrete changes that came out of George Floyd's killing here in Minneapolis in 2020, which is the BCA Force Investigations Unit, created to restore trust in investigations when law enforcement kills civilians.

It is the position of the Trump Administration that its agents can come into any state and city in America (let alone other countries) and kill people and that state and city have no jurisdiction to inquire about it.

Treat any Trump official accordingly.
