Interesting (to me, at least) encounter yesterday with an axe-wielding killer:
I was out getting steps when a homeowner called me over. I turned. He started approaching me and I saw that he was holding a hatchet. He asked me a question - I think it was something like ‘Can you help me?’ ‘Not when you’re holding an axe!,’ I half-yelled.

Story 🧵.
Semi-spoiler: Snake!

Also, when reporters start talking about the chatbots this way, it is imperative to remind them they are basically asking a toaster for comment. They should be a lot more embarrassed about this than they currently are.

“Grok told CNN…” no it didn’t. You typed stuff into an unreliable calculator.

"That’s what these ‘debates’ are really about: framing old fashioned oppression as some kind of high-brow concern for women’s happiness.

You know what makes us happy? Bank accounts. Voting rights. The ability to leave a bad marriage and not have a miscarriage kill us."

The constitutional remedy for a president who uses collective punishment against people for the crimes of a few is impeachment, removal, and disqualification, followed by a criminal trial.
BREAKING

The Trump administration says it has frozen all childcare payments to Minnesota in the aftermath of allegations of fraud by some in the Somali community.

Important: allegations along these lines have existed for years, which has resulted in prosecutions starting with the Biden DOJ.

Participating in these "debates" is agreeing that our rights are not important.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has stated that the 1918 flu pandemic was caused by a lab virus from vaccine research, a defective influenza vaccine. Let’s analyze what a lie this is. First, in 1918, 107 years ago, virology was in its infancy

and the ability to do such vaccine research was impossible. In 1918 it was not known what caused influenza; the influenza virus was not discovered until 1933. The bottom line is that a vaccine virus could never have been imagined in 1918. The influenza virus arose in

One of the many reasons "Abolish ICE" has been a popular refrain on the left — besides the fact that borders and border security means violence — is that ICE and CBP were always going to be the agencies that would become the SS.

Ohio reports that about 8,000 ballots arrived in its four-day grace period in November 2024. Under the law that state legislators just passed, all of these ballots would have been tossed out.
Ohio Bans Grace Periods for Mail Ballots, Fulfilling Trump’s Wishes
Ohio is the fourth GOP-run state this year to ban ballots that are postmarked by Election Day but arrive after. A Supreme Court case could force that policy nationwide next year.

In 1932, FDR was elected with 57.4% of the vote. He brought us the New Deal.
In 1964, LBJ was elected with 61.1% of the vote. He brough us the Great Society.
In 2025, Trump was elected with 49.8% of the vote. He's attempting to destroy everything FDR & LBJ built.

The rest is commentary.

And this reminds me of New York Italians who complain about immigrants who “don’t come in the right way, like my great-grandparents did,” when that older immigration took place between 1890-1910 and today’s process didn’t exist.
Relatedly, we obtained an unpublished history of Stephen Miller's ancestors' immigration to the US, written by his grandmother. People like them were attacked in terms very similar to the ones Miller and MAGA use about today's immigrants:

At least 11 congressmen from 1865-1871 were arguably not citizens under Trump's interpretation of 14th A, our research finds. Yet no one challenged their eligibility to serve. Why not? Obviously, b/c no one who drafted or ratified the 14th A shared Trump's view.
