Our primary school had a thing where, if your birthday was the same day as an assembly, you got to stand up in front of the whole school & everyone sang you happy birthday. There was also a huge, white frosted cake, with a candle for each of the birthday kids to blow out.

AI is the future. AI is inevitable. We're going to have AGI any day. The only winning move is to become a holding company for OpenAI stock.

Unless you are a financial analyst, looking at Oracle betting the farm on one customer and thinking "no actually that's extremely stupid for anyone to do."
Oracle’s astonishing $300bn OpenAI deal is now valued at minus $60bn
And suddenly, there may be a reverse Midas at the centre of AI’s circular economy

If you feel like you voted for Labour and got Reform, time to join @zackpolanski.bsky.social and the Green Party.

Don’t be taken in by the right wing smears, today’s Green Party is passionate, intelligent, and honest. They have consistently impressed me.
“on article 8 of the ECHR in particular the right to family life ..we want to constrain in legislation the way that that is applied in immigration cases” Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood tells Sky’s Trevor Philips

Who would have imagined we would ever hear this from a Labour government

Just demonstrates how out of touch with the public (apart from a few racist, fascist twats) this UK Labour government is. Just like the Tories. Starmer, unable to think for himself, relies on the odious McSweeney for his policies, and his fellow puppets join in. Change for the worse….

Can't wait til there's an election and Labour can kick out these Tory bastards.
Govt minister Alex Norris is asked if the govt will take jewellery from people [fleeing war and persecution]. Norris says the govt won't be taking peoples wedding rings but they will seize assets.

The fallacy is that AI can replace jobs. It can boost the productivity of employees. But it cannot replace them (at least with current technologies).

There is an incredible gap between the perceived and actual abilities of current AI tools, driven by the Tech sector's false promises.

a really important thread digging into the nuance behind headline polling numbers on immigration.
Yesterday, we put out a report on the most important issues to voters.

We know that immigration now tops the traditional most important issues question (see below from @yougov.co.uk).

But that doesn't tell the full story.

Here is a rundown of the experiments we did to test this out (A THREAD):

We then stuck with open-ends but changed the question a little.

Most pollsters ask about issues facing the country.

When we ask about people's day-to-day lives, the change is starkly different.

Immigration is only mentioned in a tenth of results. A majority mentioned the Cost of Living.

The worst part of travelling on Uber in London is listening to LBC.
If you listened to LBC or experience the news in the UK you'd think that immigration is the only thing happening.
