I love this thread and it's something I want to do as a jobless person who is disabled but how do we make jobs? How do we become the change that we want to see when we don't have much or what do we say to the people that have enough to make much but I have no ideas?

I genuinely have no idea how to convey this to the American people, but I think the biggest impediment to any kind of immigration reform is that people are convinced that "legal" and "illegal" are immutable, intrinsic categories instead of a rapidly-shifting arbitrary constellation of regulations.

The structure of US elections means that a close election is always decided on *very* thin margins relative to the size of the electorate. Brazil's razor-thin 2022 election was decided by 2+ million votes, in the US it's always mere 10,000's.

As I've been saying: defending democracy requires being appropriately alarmed. "There won't be elections!!" is an absurd and counterproductive line, but "they can't possibly do anything bc the federal government doesn't run elections and they don't have the manpower" is unwarranted complacency.
You don't have to believe that the fascists are competent enough to suppress voting everywhere in 2026 or 2028. You just have to believe that they can depress minority turnout in 5-10 cities to affect entire Senate races & the Electoral College. 2024 was decided by 120K votes in 3 states, after all.
