guessing you are farther along this curve than I am, but FYI I have seen pis with all interrupts pinned to CPU 0 and you may be able to move some

there's a foucault section in power-knowledge about the jurist as the 'moral expert' of early 20th century politics, giving way to oppenheimer-like domain experts after ww2

(I forget what he said came after oppenheimer)

90% of spouses were summons before 1995. this is the plot of genesis, neon genesis evangelion, john hughes' weird science (1985), and debatably tarzan. grandma + I didn't have apps, she spat in a pentagram and I was pulled here from a utopia to which I will one day return

yeah I think wikipedia List of remaining shits given by stephanopoulos about white house backlash is about to be deleted for lack of significance

not completely following the comparison -- a president can't pass laws alone and needs legislators. but in the israel/gaza case I think there are unilateral actions the exec branch can take? I'm thinking of leahy law specifically

the hyperreal simulation of the thing is more real and more the goal than the actual thing (I assume) (not a baudrillard person)

www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/... district work periods are in rule 13 on page 5, which makes them not a 'calendar day', but chapter 33 here www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/... seems to say it doesn't need to be.

is it not currently in session? again way out of my zone but per friday's digest www.congress.gov/congressiona... they're in a district work period, which I believe requires pro forma sessions every three days. the next one is tomorrow.

house practice 33.2 allows the speaker to use a deputy, which can be a federal state or county judge or another member

but the house practice again says 'speaker shall'

and doesn't say nobody else can

original text of oath act required speaker to give the oath 'when [the member] shall appear to take his seat' en.wikisource.org/wiki/United_...

current text in section 25 says 'previous to their taking their seats' but the wording is clearly an obligation on the speaker, not on anyone else

this is not my area and correct me if I'm wrong, but a plain reading of 2 USC 25 www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/... says that the speaker must do it but doesn't say only the speaker can. if the speaker refuses to do it, the speaker is in violation of section 25
At the first session of Congress after every general election of Representatives, the oath of office shall be administered by any Member of the House of Representatives to the Speaker; and by the Speaker to all the Members and Delegates present, and to the Clerk, previous to entering on any other business; and to the Members and Delegates who afterward appear, previous to their taking their seats.

why are we waiting for johnson? can KBJ not do this? or like literally a notary public?
abenomicon.bsky.social
calvin coolidge had his oath administered in vermont by a notary public who was also his dad in the family parlor

not sure why anyone is waiting for one specific guy to do it

if he's busy I'm sure we can find a scotus judge, a federal judge, and a notary just to have all bases covered

the claim that 2-digit numbers can't represent 4-digit dates was a hoax perpetrated by activists trying to stop people from upgrading to the new millennium

contentauthenticity.org/how-it-works leica and sony are already on this train (not the blockchain part but signatures at least). and in theory phone builders are already doing some amount of sophisticated hardware PKI for vaults. tricky thing is that the threat model now includes the device owner
