This. This was the formative event of my generation & our entire politics in 🇺🇸. The structural break after which we were no longer a full democracy, when 5 Wizards In Robes decided they were a super-legislature & counting all the actual votes didn’t matter. The rest has been 25 years of commentary.
25 years ago today, SCOTUS elected George W Bush president of the United States by blocking completion of a voting canvass in Florida. A subsequent canvass by the Associated Press showed that Bush's rival, Al Gore, had won the race in Florida—and thus the contest for the presidency—by 700 votes.

New language would forbid Minneapolis from entering into any agreements with federal immigration enforcement agencies. More than a half dozen law enforcement agencies in Minnesota have formal agreements with DHS to partner with ICE, and the measure would block the city from taking similar actions.

The Twin Cities' newest bus rapid transit line launches this weekend, with the E Line running between Southdale Center in Edina and the University of Minnesota.

It's the third BRT line Metro Transit has launched this year.

I moved to Minnesota in June 2023 during a day when the air smelled like a campfire. When I’ve asked longtime Minnesotans about the increasingly severe smoke during our summers, they all say it was never a problem until a few years ago. And wow, this graph has got the receipts.
