Hi, BlueSky: I'm taking a break from you guys for the next month or so for my mental health. I'm fine (want to stop before I'm not; last week 🙃), still working, so if you or someone you know needs an academic developmental editor, copy/line editor, biblio creator, etc., link to my site is in bio. 👋

Klein seems to me to be in a fairly "center cannot hold" position right now. On the Op-Ed page since January, the columnists have been either Bouie and McMillan Cottom or supporting the administration in some way at least sometimes, or Ezra Klein. Maybe he's not enjoying that & wants to pick a side.

2) some version of the typical critized-centrist-to-crazy-person pipeline.

I guess she's more in the Ezra Klein camp than any of the other two. I find that virtually nothing she writes is original; it's more a "what she liked best from various online stuff and other newspapers." We'll see what she writes about CK.

When you first mentioned a book nook, I thought she was building you a human-sized book nook, but this one is great, too.

What's today Germany during the 30 Years War (and that's after such 16th-cent. atrocities as the German Peasants War and siege of Muenster).

Again, not an expert, so certainly not ruling out some secret third thing.

I know nothing about anything, but based on my observation of politics in this country for ca. the last ten years, it seems to me that after this column, it probably goes one of two ways: 1) some kind of apology, maybe mealy-mouthed, but "I was grieving and wrote before I was ready" or +

"He can't be an antisemite! He has Jewish parents!"

You are correct. I'm tired and I misremembered about how long it took to catch him. But I think the part about breaking his leg was correct.

Wishing you the best in your treatment!

You have to follow me back first. Just followed you.

I have a PDF of the Nazi article if you're interested.

I had to use of one my 3 free articles a month to read Dorothy Parker's famous "Who Goes Nazi?" article. You know, the one from the original Nazi period.

That is helpful context, thanks.

I am somewhat light-sensitive (though not enough for a formal diagnosis), so my phone and computer are always on a lower brightness, and I find the usual cell-phone screen glare horrible.

I have seen the "maybe law enforcement are all idiots" argument on here a bunch of times, and the reason I am asking you is that I assume you will believe me when I say it's a serious question.
adinayoffie.bsky.social
I agree that that is nuts.

I mean, wouldn't training typically be necessary to hit a guy in the neck with one shot from above from over 400 feet away? Isn't THAT the thing that implies some kind of plan more than that he got away? This is a serious question.

Just out of curiosity, was it a musical? The last show I was at was a musical, and I was so overstimulated that I don't know if I would have noticed someone pouring a drink over my head. But YMMV.
