Every comic cover since has been trying and failing to reach the heights glimpsed by this Carmine Infantino cover for Flash #133 in 1962. You may not like it but this is what peak performance looks like
Flash being turned into a puppet while thinking "I've got the strangest feeling I'm being turned into a PUPPET!". FUN FACT: it is impossible to see this cover and not want to see more

JB Pritzker says NO KINGS, SHOW UP ON 10/18
gregsargent.bsky.social
Finally, Pritzker says more Dems must sound the alarm, though he notes some exceptions (like Chris Murphy).

"I am surprised that more leaders have not stood up," he says.

He urges people to join No Kings protests to let the country know something's wrong. 5/5

One of my all-time favorites. I've always wondered if the shimmering opening credits to Blue Velvet aren't a reference to it.

Yeah it's a history of people watching bad movies, from Vampira to the present day. "The Good Bad Movie Scene." Am almost done!

just talked to Gov. Pritzker who dared President Trump to “come and get me” after POTUS threatened him with arrest. But Pritzker said he thinks Trump will chicken out.

By the time I arrived, Rob was in love with someone else. He had told me he was seeing someone but that it wasn't important. I have been, as you can imagine, devastated & very unhappy.

Ken Jacobs was the first experimental filmmaker whose work I understood. Not necessarily because the work itself was more accessible but because he presented it as something that was for everyone and could be made by anyone. He, in various ways, democratized the avant garde in a way nobody else had.

Oct 6 is Zontar, the Thing from Venus! 1967, directed by Larry Buchanan, a (much worse, apparently) remake of Roger Corman’s 1956 film It Conquered the World
Text: "Zontar, the thing from Venus," over a background of... a rocket? It looks like a rocket. It's probably a rocket.

Criminally underseen star turn from Steve James, directed by Sam Firstenberg off his run of Cannon classics (Revenge of the Ninja, Ninja 3, Breakin' 2, Avenging Force, American Ninja 1 & 2...) and lovingly restored after decades of only being available on a hard-to-find VHS. Mark your calendars!

The brave men and women who serve in our national guards must not be used as political props. This is a moment where every American must speak up and help stop this madness.

I call on Governor Abbott to immediately withdraw any support for this decision and refuse to coordinate. There is no reason a President should send military troops into a sovereign state without their knowledge, consent, or cooperation.
