On this day in 1749, the Siege of Grand Pré began in Nova Scotia. The Wabanaki Confederacy and Acadians laid siege to Fort Vieux Logis until Dec. 4. Two sentries were killed at the start. Those captured in the siege were prisoners for two years until ransomed.

I don’t think people outside of healthcare realize how much AAP is standing out as a moral backbone of medicine right now, especially in pediatrics. There is so much fear at institutions. Seeing an org directly and repeatedly targeted refuse to budge an inch is extraordinary.

I feel much safer today knowing that we deported a Babson College student back to a country where she hasn't lived since childhood.

I believe it was chosen as the marketing focus because cervical cancer is the most common related cancer, and is almost entirely caused by HPV. Probably the optics of “protect our girls” too. Buuut in the US that backfired because of our bizarre sexual Puritanism, and there was a big backlash

If you are an adult under 45 in the US who never received the vaccine, you are also eligible for it. (You can also get it if you’re older, but insurance might not cover it). HPV is a very common infection, but it’s not inevitable. Let’s wipe it out!
