Had a discussion in the coffee shop about how car speeds are excessive and limiting at 100 was reasonable - my point was cars without a roll cage just shouldn’t go that fast.

The other individual then recounted an elaborate story going 115 (the cars factory limit) and being passed by a mustang. 🤦‍♂️
Love how much energy we all spend circle jerking over classes of ebikes while car culture runs around with metrics of multiple tons, hundreds of horsepower, and top speeds only limited in triple digits.

Taking the car to go get groceries today simply because I know there will be multiple instances where bike infrastructure is not clear of mounded snow where it meets the clean and clear streets for cars. A city gets the traffic they design and maintain for.

I liked Dunkelman's book but this op-ed is based on the same fallacy that leads some people to think fascist Italy and Germany were models of efficient administration.
There is such a thirst in some progressive centrist circles that they will look at the Trump administration as a model to get things done. I think its worth addressing the argument. This is from Mark Dunkelman, author of the widely praised "Why Nothing Works."

Cable was a once-a-year decision. Streaming is a constant battle of subscribing and cancelling to get the content you want and I. Do. Not. Want. To. Do. That.

Libraries have DVDs and they're free.

I'm being honest here: if this goes through and it means higher prices for a netflix subscription I'm out.
Netflix’s new bid to buy Warner Bros is a mostly cash offer.

The company is arranging a mega-loan to be able to buy WB

I'm so tired of measles.

I'm also tired of people using needle shots on stories like this.

High tides will probably swamp Dorchester’s Morrissey Boulevard during peak travel times this week, including the morning rush hour on Wednesday.

It's so fucking infuriating to see the effect that AI is having on artists' ability to make a living.

It doesn't have to be this way.
I'm really gutted about this. I spent over ten years building my website, it's what launched my writing career. But between AI hijacking all my traffic, literally, traffic from searches is almost 0 now, and my host raising fees to be hundreds of dollars for the year, I just can't anymore.

This is so pathetic of The Post but it's so funny. Is The Post taking the position that we need more cars in NYC? Who is this even for? Even drivers don't want more cars around them.

Been reading *Walkable City* by Jeff Speck and found out that there are an average of 500,000,000 empty parking spaces in the U.S. at any given time. That's almost 1.5x as many people live in the country. We have enough parking for another America and a half, assuming everyone owns a car.

It does basically suck that you can't be an actual abolitionist and be mayor in any place in the US really, because you will be brutally and probably openly murdered by your own cops
We are so fucked when Mamdani inevitably does something a typical Major Blue City mayor would do, like sic cops on protesters or cut the ribbon on Goldman Sachs' new building or whatever.

We're all going to need to get real cool with how much weird parochialism comes with this particular job.

Funny how when a person is killed in traffic, according to the Post it’s the “car” that did it but when anyone comes along to make streets safer it’s an attack on “drivers.”
