People make a lot of arguments about why piracy is progressive but the truth is: if it costs money no one would do it. It's just easier to get stuff for free. Don't do it folks, pay a couple bucks and you will make sure they make more of the thing you like.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

‘Rush Hour 4’ is officially in the works.

This comes after Donald Trump personally requested Paramount to revive the franchise.

This is disgraceful toadying to someone who could well be dead, out of office, or both by the time this reanimated corpse knuckle-drags itself to the screen. Some context: Ratner directed the state-approved Melania doc that is coming to Prime, so he's now a friend of The Family. >
I teased this last night in What I’m Hearing but now confirmed: Paramount WILL release Rush Hour 4 after prodding from Trump on behalf of Brett Ratner. Distribution deal. Producer Tarak Ben Ammar is lining up financing. Get ready for the dumbest possible state-controlled media.

Chat, is it a good sign when the Atlantic's Thanksgiving take is "cabbage is affordable"?
Cabbage is affordable, delicious, and astoundingly versatile, @giladedelman.bsky.social writes. The underrated crucifer “is fit for a king”:

I'm on @doughboys.bsky.social today with @fredcstresing.bsky.social and @megcasey.bsky.social where we all got one upped by Meg on the NYCC panel.

I think Wiger and Mitch are two of the funniest people on this dumbass Earth, so it's an honor.

I can't get over studios having a successful, original *ensemble mystery* franchise on their hands and not caring about making more money off of it. It's not even a question of getting distracted by AI bullshit, it's a six-year-old series!
For that matter, giving this and Wake Up Dead Man actual wide releases, when I saw this in theaters the three days Netflix allowed it to play, the screening was packed.
My big opinion about that movie is that if Hollywood were still functional some executive would’ve slammed a fist down on his desk & shouted, “Put that Janelle Monae in EVERYTHING!”

Love love love these books. Twin Peaks meets Encyclopedia Brown. Thrilled to read the third one.
It's a big day for freaks who can read! Hobtown Mystery Stories: The Secret of the Saucer is available now at bookstores and tomorrow in comic shops. Don't miss the weirdest, most compelling graphic novel of the year from Kris Bertin and Alexander Forbes! @hobtown.bsky.social @oni-press.bsky.social

I post a new version of this every other year or so, and every year comic book page rates stay the same. Five years ago, people were getting paid $240 in '25 dollars; today they are getting the same $150 a page.
The one about comic book page rates – again. News flash: Comic book page rates are STILL stagnant, after all these years, and for indie cartoonists it's even harder
