I got to deliver a talk on the history and legacy of the Hays Code and the Comics Code, contemporary censorship efforts, and the necessity of identifying with criminality. You can watch and read the whole thing here:

This is praxis, I’m so serious. Politely wasting as much time as physically possible. Rage doesn’t work. Wasting their money complaining does. This thread contains a GREAT script for being a confused but polite menace, talking point by talking point
Currently on the phone with Visa

Instead of starting with a complaint, I approached this as a Confused American Consumer who doesn't understand why they can't buy things off a website they use

The call center rep immediately asked if it was about Steam/itch

"But this is just about porn games!"

Yes, and weird religious fascists regularly mischaracterize queer people and queer art as inherently pornographic, they shouldn't be given an inch because there's no line for them, no cut-off point, they'll never be satisfied. Do you think they'll stop at porn?
visa and mastercard deciding what games are allowed to be sold is an apocalyptic level threat to the games industry. phone calls are the highest impact way to help.

this is an all hands on deck situation. the enemy got results with 1000 phone calls.

we can beat them

phone numbers and a script:

(Correction from comments indicates this blooms more than one night a year, but each bloom only lasts a night)
The Queen of Night (Epiphyllum oxypetalum) blooms just once a year at night and only for a few hours.

Just a reminder: It really helps us indie authors out if you will leave a rating or a review of our book on AZ and Goodreads when you finish.

I know, evil sites. I know. But they also generate a lot of traffic and funds we need. So please remember to drop a rating or review. Thanks! 🥰

Finished The City We Became by NK Jemisin last night. It was a five-star read that has *rough* (to read in the current climate, especially) enemies and some fantastic characters. Audio narration was spot-on!
