This is the argument for "pre-existing conditions." Like being a woman.
Markwayne Mullin on healthcare: "What the president would like to do is say, hey, if you take care of yourself -- you don't smoke, you don't dip, you're not drinking, you're not overweight, you're working out -- then you should pay less than the guy that obviously is not taking care of himself."

To prevent this kind of tragedy:

*get a Tdap 💉during the 3rd trimester of every pregnancy
*vaccinate babies on AAP-recommended schedule
*ALL adults need TDap boosters every 10 years minimum (5 is better bc the pertussis part of 💉can wane sooner)

almost every novelist you read who's not from the airport fiction or bestseller sections is working a full on day job, including multi-award winners and absolute legends, or they have a spouse or trust that supports them. virtually across the board. just normalize in your mind that's how it works.
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

My point is that this has been happening again and again and again and again and unless something major (world shatteringly so) changes, it will indeed happen again after this batch ends.

We can't just throw a fresh layer of paint on a machine that by design results in this and call it a day.

The last Trump administration dug in a lifetime's worth of bad Federal judges. This Trump administration they're digging deeper, burying things deeper

I'm thinking about how it now seems clear this particular fascist moment will end, this particular movement will fall, but I'm thinking about all the forms of horrible harm that will be locked-in forever and go uncommented on. I am thinking about this because KOSA has been reintroduced in the House.

The funny thing is, MS365 is ALSO a total rip-off. You can still literally just buy an MS Office license outright for about the cost of one year of 365 subscription, and then you own it forever. And at least Office has broad utility, unlike the hallucinating, planet-burning plaigarism machine.
To bear out this rosy projection, HSBC assumes that OpenAI will become "as ubiquitous [...] as Microsoft 365" (345mm users worldwide) while bringing in 10x the number of users (3bn).

This is why OpenAI is selling so aggressively to education at all levels—they want to create entire generations of users incapable of reading, writing and thinking without ChatGPT to hold their hands

And teachers and professors should call this out for what it actually is
