Hello to all the lovely ppl who have recently followed me. I’m at an odd career crossroads rn, so my posts are everywhere—but they mostly orbit around Qs on how to actually make a better world for the kids. All the kids.

The US cutting off oil to Cuba is truly one of the most depraved acts it is possible to imagine. Hospitals will close, food production will collapse, people will starve. It is urgent for US citizens, and every sane person, to oppose this barbarism with all their might.

In what is arguably the World's Best News, it looks like India is going to spend much less time in the "fossil fuel detour" than the US or China. It is moving much more directly to clean electrification.

This is sickening. For comparison, this is more than the Department of Energy spent for all solar power and wind power R&D for the whole country.
ICE has now spent over half a BILLION dollars just on purchasing warehouses around the country to convert into detention camps.

If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

The current US regime is so unserious and absurd, their press releases read like some kind of parody of a government memo you’d read about in a James & the Giant Peach style elementary school kids chapter book.

Again, this is one of those "He can't do that because it's illegal" things that he keeps doing every day, so I don't know why anyone thinks the other things like that are things that can't also happen.
Southcom killed 2 more in the Eastern Pacific today, making at least 131 civilians killed by the US with no due process in 35 attacks over 5 months.

Only a sick nation would do this. 23 attacks in the Eastern Pacific, 10 in the Caribbean, 2 unspecified. See adamisacson.com/boat-strikes/

Sounds more like Artificial Negligence to me.
When AI was added to a tool for sinus surgery: “Cerebrospinal fluid leaked from one patient’s nose. In another… a surgeon mistakenly punctured the base of a patient’s skull. In two other cases, patients suffered strokes after a major artery was accidentally injured”

I also bought a combo CD and TAPE DECK for the 8 yo & gave him access to my old old music CD stash for him to play w bc FOOK THE US TECH ELITE BILLIONAIRES.

Gonna teach him
recently purchased a 260gb ipod on backmarket and transferred all my old mp3's backed up from when i was collecting music in high school / college...and then i downloaded soulseek and started ripping shit like crazy again

RETVRN
I found my old iPod and I’ve ordered a PS Vita. It’s all part of experimenting with how I use digital technology in 2026.

On top of my update, find plenty of great reads from the past month in the January recap.

i know portland doesn’t count as real america on the east coast but i saw very little national news coverage of this over the weekend—and the coverage i did see wasn’t prominent. i think a bunch of little kids and nurses and families getting gassed is newsworthy
ICE tear gassed a bunch of children on Saturday. This was a massive escalation of force. They were shooting tear gas at the back of the crowd, it took these unmasked people maybe 3-5 minutes in the cloud of tear gas to escape in without trampling. www.theverge.com/policy/87278...

Epstein ran an enormous pedophile racket for 3 decades for the very rich & powerful.
1,000 victims are recorded.
This involved rape & more.
No single American has been charged.
The US would benefit from having some rule of law also for its pedophile elite.

A fun tactic of extremists is to argue that they don't hate out-groups, they just blah blah blah. The pinnacle of this was the antebellum argument that enslaved people were happier and healthier enslaved, and that enslavers were motivated bu their charitable natures. It was BS then, and it's BS now.
Q: Pope Leo cited Matthew 25:35 to critique Donald Trump's mass deportation agenda. How would you respond to Pope Leo in scripture?

MIKE JOHNSON: Sovereign borders are biblical and right and just. It's not because we hate the people on the outside. It's because we love the people on the inside.
