Hello! 👋
A lot of new bots & sketchy profiles on here lately. If I don’t follow you back, pls say hi & ask. Also, if you’re skeptical if I’m a bot, or want to know a bit more about me, click below. 👇
Hello to all the lovely ppl who have recently followed me. I’m at an odd career crossroads rn, so my posts are everywhere—but they mostly orbit around Qs on how to actually make a better world for the kids. All the kids.

France and Germany are part of a shared civilisation but it didn't stop them from going to war with each other four times between 1800 and 1950
Rubio just made a speech to the European defense community in Munich that did not mention Ukraine. Or democracy. Or US business deals with Russia. Or the administration's plans to support the European far right. But there were lots of nice words about our common civilization.

So interesting listening to the start of this on notions that the Egyptians who built the pyramids were not African but a ‘new race’ formulated by Petri, who was a eugenicist thinker. Reminds me of Garrett Harding in my field of ecology/geog with his eugenics rooted “tragedy of the commons”.
Great discussion with archaeologist David Wengrow @davidwengrow.bsky.social on the origins of archaeology & how the European encounter with differently organized societies (Africa, Australasia, the Americas) presented a huge challenge to their own rigid hierarchies.

“Corrupt” doesn’t really characterize this level of crime. Corrupt is like some official taking a few bills in a bag. We need new words for this level of heinousness.

There is a good term for what is needed to address this though. Nuremberg 2.0. For all of them.
"This is the most shamelessly, brazenly, openly corrupt and compromised government in modern American history and, astonishingly, the person who sits at the center of much of that corruption and compromise isn’t even a member of the government: It’s Jared Cory Kushner, First Son-in-Law." - me
👀 Jared Kushner... Redacted?
The president's son-in-law is at the center of a huge new scandal. Plus: the Trump administration's war on the climate and the Pakistani government's war on Imran Khan's health.

Remember when Stephen Harper ordered the CRA to perform egregious audits of green and climate change charities because he claimed they were being funded by foreign money.

they all passed.

Meanwhile we let this shit happen with far right wing groups, destabilizing Canada with misinformation.
A conservative Canadian broadcast news network is incorporating propaganda from U.S. dark-money-funded think tanks directly into its regular programming.

💯 Many are re-traumatized by telling their story based on others' reactions, so they don't end up talking about it at all. This needs to change

His ideas are still here and his message is more important than ever before which must remind us that a better world is possible.

The US cutting off oil to Cuba is truly one of the most depraved acts it is possible to imagine. Hospitals will close, food production will collapse, people will starve. It is urgent for US citizens, and every sane person, to oppose this barbarism with all their might.

If these mega-camps are utilized to the full capacity ICE intends, they'll be the largest prisons in the country, with little real oversight. www.ajc.com/politics/202...

The current US regime is so unserious and absurd, their press releases read like some kind of parody of a government memo you’d read about in a James & the Giant Peach style elementary school kids chapter book.
