Re. lrs - thinking about it, Stede really does use everything Ed taught him: the initial exchange and ripostes, the spank, the inciting Izzy to stab him (whether consciously or not) and then taking the sword on the left to win.
He is a quick learner. Not necessarily a smart one, but a quick one XD

I grew up on these. Also shout out to their classics series. Don't know who thought it was a good idea to include the wedding attempted-murder scene from Lorna Doone with Lorna falling, bleeding, and John horrified. Kudos for putting that in a book for 6-9 years olds.
