The Lab is restoring the main auditorium of the San Francisco Labor Temple, built in 1914. Among other things, this is where the 1934 vote to join the longshoremen in a city-wide general strike was held. It will be the largest, longest-running space in the Bay Area dedicated to experimental work.

50 years from now someone will make a movie* about a plague of poaster’s madness that infects the country and that, too, will also be about white people’s fear of slave revolts

*documentary lol

Love this! It’s been years since I read The Stack but I recall being bemused by Bratton’s impulse to turn to “technology will eventually fix this” every time he hit a contradiction or a sticky issue about finite resources.

And yes last time I opened X, I recall witnessing some poaster’s madness.

For nearly 200 days, a large white police bus sat on one of the busiest transit plazas in San Francisco. And during that time, it cost the Mission District police station 44 percent of its monthly overtime budget, according to Captain Sean Perdomo.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences:

For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:

For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

Cory, and I mean this sincerely, go fuck yourself
Cory, 31, Tenn., white, Republican, construction I believed Trump was focused on lowering drug prices, prescription drug prices. I have a chronic condition. I'm a Type 1 diabetic. And since he has taken office, my medications have tripled in price.
Again, I don't know if that's a correlation to where I live or my insurance but it's gotten to a point where, for a disease I did not cause and do not have any control over, seeing a very high increase in the prices that I'm paying.

My guess is that the internet archive would probably do a deliberate job of archiving everything if that’s of interest. (Maybe even if it’s not!)

It’s such a short timeline so hopefully someone else in this thread can take a first crack even if it’s not a permanent hosting solution.

Gavin Newsom’s son is also named Hunter???? You can’t make this up folks
fledgling conservatives in red states. Gavin Newsom, the Democratic governor of California, said at a news conference on Tuesday that his 14-year-old son, Hunter, had called him from school the moment he heard that Mr. Kirk had been shot, anxious for news of his condition. He had been an admirer.
Conversations with his son served as "a reminder of how many young people were impacted by this death in a pretty profound way," Mr. Newsom said.

I kind of think it’s more just willful collaboration than strategy? Idk might just be me tho. Easier to corral the poors if someone else can be blamed.

I don’t see any indication that Lurie actually wanted to stop this from happening though? I’m very open to being corrected…
