Awful news about James Ransone. A fantastic actor whose portrayal of Ziggy Sobotka in the Wire is phenomenal. Stole every scene he was in.

Politicians wonder why so many of the electorate are disillusioned with politics when they vote to keep Fox Hunting. 70% of the population supported the ban and less than 2% have ever taken part in a hunt. Also not for the first time, incredibly disappointing to see Sinn Fein opposed the bill too.

Noticed that Boojum on Abbey street has been quiet of late. Quickly became apparent why when I noticed that the exact same food order (I’m a picky eater) which used to cost €11.05 in November 2023, cost me €15.50 today. Approx 35% increase in two years. I’ve had a 2% pay increase in that time.

Recall of Cube bicycles warns use must “stop immediately and without exception”
Bicycle brand Cube has issued a recall, telling customers to stop using the 2025 and 2026 road bicycles "immediately and without exception until the fork has been checked and affected forks replaced". The company has warned that the defect increases the "risk of an accident, which can cause material damage, serious injuries or even fatal injuries." The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), which repeated the recall on its website with images of the bicycles, said that there are around 190 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

Cold one this morning but very impressed with the new greenway that goes up the Canal. Takes a lot of the dodgy roads going into the city centre out of my cycle.

The some being an incredibly vocal minority who barely managed less than half a percentage of the electorate last year.
For decades, Ireland proudly stood against the rising tide of anti-migrant anger.

But recently, dozens of arson cases have been reported at some of the more than 320 centers linked to asylum processing and housing for refugees in Ireland.
Dublin embraced refugees, but some in Ireland have had enough
Protests and attacks have marked a backlash at resettlement centers in Ireland and have spread to neighborhoods where even longtime immigrants feel unsafe.

There’s no money to be made out of people who do an occasional flutter, the entire business model of gambling relies on monetising addiction. We should not make further concessions to this predatory industry on our streets.
Invitations to gamble shouldn’t be projected on city streets, say councillors. New gambling advertising rules are set to come into effect very soon, and are likely to curb on-street advertising.

Actually beyond sick of traffic in Dublin. One hour to get from the airport through the port tunnel on the 142 bus. This is why the metro is needed but god forbid the wealthy Ranelagh residents ever have to not get their way.

Harry McGee, on the IT politics podcast, just asserted that the recent drones seen around Zelenskyy’s visit were military grade weapons launched from within the Irish state by foreign agents. There’s no evidence for any of this, it’s absolutely unhinged.

Those residents in Ranelagh. The level of selfishness and privilege needed to try to delay a project that will improve the quality of live of millions of people. I would be absolutely embarrassed to be even associated with any of them.
